OzSale Invite a Friend Offer

I just wanted to hear what everyone thinks of this. I created multiple email accounts and used my original email login with Ozsale to "invite" all the new email addresses I've created. I then created an Ozsale account with each of these email addresses and purchased a $6 men's tie with free shipping, which means that in my original account I now have a $20 voucher.

I used the vouchers and bought a few items in my original account. Today I noticed that Ozsale suspended my original account, but I could still login using the mobile app on my phone, and I saw that they've cancelled the orders I placed using the vouchers and didn't credit the vouchers back into my account either.

Is what I'm doing morally wrong, or am I using their system in a way that it's not supposed to be used? Would you do the same as I did? I guess I'm just having a taste of my own medicine but I'm feeling a bit disappointed and want to hear what everyone else thinks.

Thanks.

  • Its good to hear that ozsale system can detect and suspend your account. Great work ozsale..

    No, I wouldnt do it

  • Did you use a credit card at all on the orders that you made in your 'original account'?

  • am I using their system in a way that it's not supposed to be used?

    Seriously??! *facepalm

  • Do you really have to ask if what you're doing is morally wrong?

    Wow…

If I got 10 vouchers or 100 vouchers, then I think it's wrong. But I merely got a couple of vouchers to offset an order I've placed in the first account, and I used my credit card to pay for the remainder plus the delivery. I don't think I'm the only one. I see this as flaws in their system and I've used it to do what it allowed me to do. Their vouchers activate instantly, if they had some sort of waiting period on it to factor in that the other person might cancel their order and that the vouchers must go through an approval process, then it'll make it extremely difficult to "invite yourself". I also couldn't see it anywhere in their terms and conditions about the offer, for example, they can put in their conditions that you're not allowed to invite someone living at the same address.

They did that to me, but they used the excuse that people used my invite link to register accounts with fake names

Im currently talking to a lawyer for a class action against ozsale for a potential fraud in their system, dishonoring their referral program and terms and conditions that are unclear about suspending accounts

    • I guess everything is automated until they notice someone has a lot of rewards…A better system would be to replicate what Vitacost does - they check everything, hence why it takes a few days for they're rewards to go through.

If people are registering with a fake details - you shouldn't be entitled to the reward - but only that reward, not your whole account. If they have done some act that is fraudulent then their system definitely needs to be audited.

  • do you still buy from ozsale?
