Vacuumed water flask/bottle/thermos?

Hi,

I'm looking for a cheap but quality bottle to bring to uni. Either for cold water or hot tea. I don't want the temperature of the liquid to transfer to the outside layer of the bottle (1. keeps the drink at the correct temperature and 2. doesn't burn me or wet my stuff in my bag from the condensing).

Anything come to mind? I'm guessing I'd want 750mL (should be best for carrying in backpack for uni).

    • Looks like a great find. What did you pay for post?

      • +1

It's $6.20 or something like that.

      • Hmm, I paid $17 because I somehow had $1.50 credit on my account. $6.50 shipping!

  • Hope you can try out the bottle and let us know if it will keep water hot for 12 hrs.

reason why I asked, I bought a Thermos flask from Harris Scarfe, worked for 1 month and one day it decided to not want to keep warm. I mean it only stays warm for 3-4 hours.

    • Will let you know!

I'm not experienced with thermos, but maybe preheating the thermos would work for you? Pour some hot water in the bottle beforehand to let it heat up, maybe that'll help it keep your liquid warm for longer.

On an off note, I know these bottles are made to handle the heat, but is it okay for the plastic part (at the cap) to be in contact with hot liquid? I was searching about keeping tea warm in it but I hear it'll leave a really bad smell from the rubber on the lid. Hopefully as long as I don't fill it up too high, it'll be okay (hope it stays straight in my bag too).

  • bought an aldi one, worked verywell for 1 month ,after that the outside is hot too..

  • Not cheap, but I have a few Hydro Flask from amazon. Very light weight and work great for tea and also cold drinks. Got them based on great online forum reviews. My 7 year old has one for school. After a year use it still works great even though it has lots of dents and the paint has come off in places. I use mine for tea.
