Quoted from their website:

"We’re thrilled to announce that after reviewing our GoStarter plan, we’ve reduced the hourly rates to make this plan even better value.

To celebrate, until the end of March, you can sign up to GoGet on our GoStarter plan for FREE -that's a saving of $49.

(Don’t forget, a $500 pre-authorisation still applies.)

All our economy cars, such as our Yaris, Accent and i30 hatchbacks, are now $9.90/hr (plus $0.40/km) – that’s a 25 per cent saving on the old rate!

Booking a car for a full day caps your booking at $79/day for economy cars and wagons (or $85/day for premium vehicles), which includes 150km/day.

We’re so excited, we want everyone to get on board! That’s why, if you sign up before the end of March, we’ll waive the application fee, saving you $49!

Don’t forget, we cover petrol, insurance, registration and all the cars’ maintenance."

Once you sign up, they will block $500 on your credit card for a period of 2 weeks. Then, every time you actually pick up a car, they will block $500 again. These will be released once the car is returned and payment is made.

AFAIK, car share service often includes petrol to beat hire car folks.

This one also includes petrol up to 150km if you rent a whole day.
      Though don't think worth pay $2.5 per liter(assume 1L can drive 10km) for 151+km.

  • Hertz-on-demand
    $10/hr (or $6/hr if prepaid $200)
    $0.3/km

    Goget

    $0.4/km

Downside for Hertz-on-demand is the city-centric locations

A pre-authorisation on your credit card sets aside the limit on your card for the amount of the pre-authorisation ($500). If you have a limit of $2,000, and GoGet does a pre-authorisation for $500, you will only have $1,500 of credit remaining for the length of your GoGet membership.

A pre-authorisation is valid for two weeks. Each time you book a car, we will automatically check to see if your pre-authorisation is still valid. If more than two weeks have passed since your last pre-authorisation, (for example, if you haven't booked a car for more than two weeks) we will automatically do a pre-authorisation for $500. That means that if you haven't booked a car for a while, you must make sure you have $500 of available credit to be able to book a GoGet car.

It looks like the $500 will ALWAYS be taken from your limit if I read this correctly.

    • That's not how I read it. You need $500 everytime you book but if you haven't booked for 2 weeks then the pre-authorisation expires and you have your $500 back. It's not as if they keep reserving $500 every 2 weeks while you are a member.

  • I have membership with all 3 car share programs (Green Share Car, Go Get and Hertz), they are only good for short timed activities.

I tend to use green share car the most to drop my girlfriend back home after 12am .. $6.95 / hr, which includes petrol and 100km

If anyone is planning to sign up let me know, there's a $25 referral credit for both :)

    • Is there a referral credit for GoGet?
If so, I would like to avail myself of that.

Can you please refer me? You can PM me for details

    • i'm looking to sign up and happy to use a referral if anyone has one.

  • Hey, just posted this deal for if you are a student, its much cheaper than the rates in this, but only helpful if youre a student - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96106

  • Thanks OP for sharing. There's plenty of these cars around near where I live, have always thought about joining.

  • Just received an email from GoGet and they are offering a $25 referral credit for anyone who joins through an existing member (like myself). This referral credit offer also ends at the end of this month.

    Quoted from their email:
"Ahh, we love those good GoGet vibrations our members are putting out on the road. As a thank you, if you refer a friend this month who signs up, we’ll give you both $25 driving credit!

Just ask your friend, colleague or neighbour to mention your name when they call or put your name in the “Who was the member that told you about us” box on the online sign up form!"

So, just mention my name (Michael Ginsburg) when you sign up under this promotion and will get an extra $25 credit in addition to the other benefits already mentioned above. The $25 credit will ONLY be given to you if you go through the referral system as described above (I confirmed it with GoGet) so we both benefit.

The free membership and $25 referral credit both end on March 31st.
