Zopo ZP900 Android Phone. Reasonable?

I swore I would never buy another chinese phone as I've been burnt in the past. though it has been over 3 years since I bought one so the pain has dulled.

this phone caught my eye. probably because it is android and therefore it is not a "fixed" os like the proprietry phones I bought before.

please convince me that it is a crap phone and I should stick with my iphone 3g which i only use to text, call and use free wifi on trains.

  • hmm interesting… what would concern me is it is 80-100 cheaper than other sellers, and the 2 guys selling at this cheap price have minimal ebay feedback… and what they do have in terms of feedback is on items that aren't electronics.

  • Seems ok for the price. Some reviews on youtube you should watch.

  • +2

Always, always read the feedback. If the seller has been previously selling nothing but cheap stuff in their feedback and all of a sudden they start to sell high value stuff, that's a red flag for a scam listing.

Remember there's always the Huawei G300+ from Vodafone ($116 + $5 to unlock from Bagman). It's not as high spec or nor is it dual core, but its still an improvement over your iPhone 3 and it comes with local 1 year warranty.

Other phones you can consider under then $200 mark:
Lenovo Lephone A789 from another seller. Has more feedback.
    Alcatel 995
Xperia Sola needs unlock code from eBay
    BAuhn phone
    Velocity 4G
Kogan mobile (I woulnd't really recommend this as Kogan tends to have pretty shocking service and lousy hardware.)

  • Too good to be true I guess…

I bought the Lenovo Lephone A789 from the seller I mentioned. I received the phone within 2 weeks, and while its not a top end phone I found it was fairly good value for money (comes with an 8GB Sandisk card) and had a fairly good build quality to it. The battery life is also great (2000maH). The downside was that I had to flash the ROM since there was no Google Play access natively.

You could also check out the Huawei Ascend Y300 for $130 USD from Merimobiles. It's also dual core, dual SIM, has Adreno 203 graphics, 512mb RAM + 4GB ROM.

Mobicity Australia sells this phone for $199 locally. However it still looks pretty new and as such there doesn't seem to be much of a ROM modding community for it yet.
