Thought I'd share this because I bought the same heli from Banggood some time ago for over $70 and this seems to be quite a bargain. I've been delighted with the heli, and found packing/shipping to be pretty good.

Not really a beginners heli although it's pretty easy to fly, just keep in mind it's not as easy to handle as the dual-rotor coaxial models such as the Syma S107. Not really an indoor model, either - it's over 40cm long. Great for still days outside, or days with a very gentle breeze.

I've crashed the hell out of mine and it just keeps going. Thought mine was pretty good value at the time of purchase…this is even better. No idea how long this will last.

  • Never heard of Banggood before, how reliable is it & who else has had any experiences with this site :)

    • I bought from them and shipping takes ages on small things but around 2-3 weeks on big things (with tracking)… Small as in parts and accessories.. Long as in 3months+!!!!

Gets really annoying of the wait times.. But prices are cheaper then most places..

    • Banggood is good, I order many times with them (15+ orders), as kspec mention small product may took about 4 weeks or longer, tracked item definitely faster in shipping. Any order that are damaged during shipment they will replace as long you email them the photo for evidence.

  • Basically, they are an outfit in China that does deals on all sorts - everything from fashion to hobby stuff - and they always do free shipping. I support my RC heli addiction through them. Average waiting time on shipping to Australia is 14 to maybe 21 days, packing is pretty good. They are also surprisingly good with comms via email.

On my 4th heli with them and happy thus far. Stumbled across them after reading positive reviews in USA heli forums.

  • so some time ago you bought the same model for over $70(how much over?) and now it costs $67?

From memory it was $76 at the time, which I thought was pretty good - this is a decent heli.

And yes, I was browsing the site today and saw it pop up at $66.99. To put it into perspective, as a guy who flies helis I'd normally expect to be spending somewhere closer to $120 for a Fixed Pitch 2.4Ghz heli in this size range by a maker such as, say, Nine Eagles. My own experience has been that the quality and durability of this heli are right up there. At $76 it was good, at $66.99 … almost tempted to buy another one, except that mine still flies perfectly.

    • thank you

    • So, you'd say it's better than Double Horse SM 9101? Because I have that one, big and nice and all that, but it just doesn't fly forward! There's all sorts of mods for it in the internet, but no matter what you do, it just lunges forward a bit, then stabilizes itself there. A piece of utter crap. Another thing, any idea how much weight you could carry with the chopper and still have some manoeuvrability? Just planning to take my little camera for a flight…

  • If I did not have a "Minister of Finance" I would probably bought this one or a bigger one as I have a small 45g one, which hardly can be flawn outside.

And here is a review on the helicopter :

    Hey jakentta.

I wasn't familiar with the Double Horse you mentioned, so I did some Googling. Turns out that model is a Coaxial heli. Very stable, very easy to fly…but very slow, and doesn't actually fly like a 'real' heli. As a Fixed Pitch model the V912 is a bit harder to fly, but it's no slouch, in fact it's a pretty powerful heli. It's the 'next step up' from a Co-ax, although by no means as difficult to fly as a Collective Pitch model.

The V912 would carry a keychain camera no problems, although maybe not a GoPro. Vibration might be a problem - I'm no heli filming expert. Mind you….when you can get a V959 quadcopter with a switchable stills/video camera built in for (from memory) $70 or so, why bother adapting a standard heli? I've seen onboard video taken with a V959 and it's pretty good considering the cost. It's an easy quad to fly, too.

Sorry, I'm rambling because I'm a heli nut. I'd encourage you to make the step up to Fixed Pitch though….much more rewarding than a slow old Co-ax!

Heh keep rambling, it's pretty interesting stuff.

Never given an RC helicopteer a second thought and now you got me wanting one :)

The V912 is a bit much for a first-timer, but if you want something fun and tough to have a go with indoors, grab a little Syma S107G. They cost about $20 ready to fly with an infra red transmitter, and they are a huge laugh. I use mine to fly Gummi Bears one at a time to my kids in the lounge room!

    • psssst! Moby, there is a reply button under every comment :)

      • Sorry, sorry…I'm a noob, I admit it… ; - )

  • thx for post moby
    love my syma s107
have been looking for a stepup to fixed pitch
what parts do u recommend to purchase
Even though I have crashed the syma too many times to remember "I" haven't broken anything - shame friends aren't as considerate. Mainly props for me. I did do a battery upgrade though as well.
Whats the next step from here pre 3D (that can handle a bit of wind & not coax) guess I should head over to the forums :)

    • hmmm, or wait not too long for the 913

    • Psychd -

Go for a WL Toys V911. Epic stuff. A Fixed Pitch heli just slightly larger than the S107. A bit harder to fly but not too hard, and can be flown indoors AND out (very light breeze) because it's 2.4ghz control rather than infra red. If you buy right you can get one ready to fly for less than $40, and parts are everywhere.

It's the perfect heli AFTER the S107 and BEFORE the V912. Have fun!

      • thx 4 reply
Ahhh, I like a challenge & am after a bit bigger heli, so thinking 912 (& why the 913 looks good). Need something for outside now.
Got a mode 2 turnigy 9x for the plane so expecting that should pair ok & be familiar.

        • …just FYI, I haven't actually managed to get my 9X to bind with my V912, Psychd…

  • [edit] ….forget that, posted a cheaper 'copter but had no radio
