Amazon will only ship these to a US Address and according to users on Whirlpool you'll need to create a US based Xbox live account to use the card.
So you'll need to know someone in the US who can receive the card for you then email you the code..

Cheapest Australian Gold price I have found is ~$65

  • I would assume then if you play online and search for games "within your location", you will most probably play US players all the time. I don't like lag in my games so I'll stick to my Aussie account. If you don't care about lag then this is a good deal - you just need to make contact with your US penpal again :D

  • how is this an "Oz" bargain??

  • Pretty sure Xbox live cards are region free and only the points ones are region locked. I order my Live subscriptions online from US sites and get the codes emailed to me.

And I agree, this isnt an Aus bargain until a site that sells to australia offers them.

    • So you're saying that people should not be made aware of this bargain even though they may be able to take advantage of it?
It's a sensational deal if you know someone or even know someone who knows someone in the USA.
I'm pretty sure every person in Australia has a direct or indirect contact in America to whom the item can be shipped.

      • On that logic but you may as well list half the items available for sale in the US. Look at game prices in general there where the norm is about $50US to our prices which are closer to $100.

Theres ALOT you can get for alot cheaper from the US if you have someone that can ship it to you. I'd maybe vote this if they were selling these directly to Australian customers, but given that they aren't thats a very big "BUT" to be placing on this deal.

        • Except US games are region locked to US consoles..
Absolutely, I agree with you that is not a Bargain for Australians.

This item is not region locked to consoles, only to Accounts (even that is unconfirmed, as you said yourself, you buy from the US and have an Australian account)

Finally, this is really a digital item, there's no subsequent shipping fee or really any hassle to have someone email you a code.. Wheras buying a physical item has to be shipped from US to Aus adding cost and hassle for your US friend.
I can see you argument on this point to some extent.

          • @ESEMCE: PC and PS3 games aren't region locked and theres a good deal of Xbox ones that are region free as well.

I think it's a good price, but it's not a very convinient offer at all. As soon as another store that will either ship or supply the code to Australians directly also matches the price I will vote it. I just can't see myself thinking this is a great offer in it's current form. Partly thats because I and I'm sure most people I know personally have no way to make use of it at the moment which makes it hard for me personally to call it a good deal.

    • So what sites do you order your subscriptions from?

      • I'll look when I get home =D.

Xboxlivepoints.com or something. Was better before our dollar died mind.

      • i got mine from http://www.maximuscards.com (formerly known as http://www.microsoftpointsxbox.com) a month ago and works on aussie account. cost about $64 with the crap aussie dollar. and its 13 months subscription not the normal 12. and they email the code =]

        • Thats the one. Did it mid last year.

  • Deal is dead.

  • I get both my xbox and psn cards from <a href="http://gaminglue.com">http://Gaminglue.com</a>. I use them because they have a direct deposit service for Australians who do not have or want to use credit cards online.

They've been discounting my orders as a returning customer as well, but so far my mates who have started using <a href="http://gaminglue.com">Gaminglue</a> still have not been offered any discounts. Maybe it's because i'm special!
