    Ready…set…troll!!

This review from there is awesome.

"Try upgrade your sound to last class. The EQ on these headphones are pitiful. The highs are barely there, they've done 0 with the mids and the bass is so far overdriven that you may as well use these as a vibrator."

    • +4

Silver lining, eh? At least they're useful for something.

  • +2

Not that I needed more of a reason to dislike these, but here is an interesting read on the making of Beats..

    http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2013/02/beat-by-dre-the-exclusive-…

    • Interesting (but depressing) article.
I was just scanning through but here's a question: if Beats broke up with Monsters (the company responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of the headphone), does that mean new Beats headphones are based on different technology? Or is Beats only producing existing models? Or neither of these matters as long as there's a Beats' logo on the product? =\

      • +5

As per article, Beats company own everything related to the headphone even though Monster designed it.
It's logical to assume that if Monster makes anything resembling it or reusing its patents, they'd be sued out of existence.
All in all, Beats customers thinking they're something elite are pretty much dumb-asses.

monster screws consumers with overpriced products.
beats by dre screws consumers with overpriced products.
interscope screws monster over the sale of overpriced products.
both parties still made millions of dollars from screwing consumers with overpriced products.

we might be able to hear the worlds smallest violin playing, if only we could actually hear anything other than overblown bass…

    • +1

Funniest thing about that article is that monster is claiming credit for designing the headphones

  • If you're gonna get a noise cancelling set get a Bose Quiet comfort.
    And it's cheaper:

    • same price + can't be shipped to oz

      • better product and pick a different colour.

  • I'm sure this claim could be disputed:

"The headphones used to mix in every major studio."

    • +1

Nah, we used to make sure we listened to mixes not only on the great studio stuff, but also on the utterly crap car stereos around the place, and so on. This will be the same: "BeatsbyDre, the craptacular car stereos of the mew millennium!"

    • +3

Dre's studio is the only studio considered to be 'Major' by beats.

    • +1

"The headphones used to mix in every major studio."

but to put that in perspective you need to take into account, from the same paragraph

artists like Will.i.am use in the studio

if you have ever actually heard fergie sing live (versus lip sync to a heavily autotuned backing track they use 99% of the time) you would know will.i.am is obviously completely tone deaf…

  • +1

I so want the liverpool FC ones though….sigh

  • +3

You think he's made a killing on 'beats by Dre'? Wait till you see his next business venture; 'hearing aids by Dre'

  • What a rip off… I can't justify paying $300 for these sub-par headphones.

  • +1

the sad thing is beats its so huge now every major studio would have to test a track on them.. if you tuned it using studio phones or even HD 650's the track would probably come out sounding like a elephant farting into a pillow..
for that price points sennheiser hd600's even though they old

  • +1

I feel sorry for him…. First post and gettin the hate! You kinda brought this upon yourself though

And just to note, i am no Beats fan.

I do not really like Beats to be honest.

      • spoken like a true beats owner/fanboi :)

  • Hmmm…yeah, this is buying a brand/image rather than buying quality, I'm afraid. I've been disappointed with every set of Beats I've tried…so I stopped trying and stick with Sennheiser and Bose…

    Sorry Dr Dre!
