I recently shopped around and ordered lenses online, best price I could get was $27/box (from quicklens).
Admittedly quicklens was better for the Oasys, I got the deal 4 boxes for $94, but had to pay shipping $10.

Would love to see someone equal or beat this price.

Guys, I am getting laser eye surgery

I still have one box of Acuvue Oasys Fortnightly left (6 Lenses). Does anyone want to buy it off me?

    The prescription is
    D -2.5
    BC 8.4
    expires 2016/11

I selling for less than half price. $15 shipped to anywhere in Australia. Better than this deal. PM me

    • Your eyes are only -2.5 and you are having laser surgery? I hope you have been at this stage for the last 5 years or so with no change. Otherwise there is a chance your eyes will still deteriorate after surgery. Ask the eye doc.

Good luck! I hope the surgery goes well for you.

From a man who is -4.5

      • yeah my eyes hasn't changed much in the last 5 years. Had my eyes checked and the specialist said I was suitable for it. And what do you mean only -2.5? Without contacts I can't even sit in front of my computer and read.

        • Depending on age and past history, usually only 12 months stability in prescription is needed before laser eye surgery may be possible. But I must stress that every case is different, and what is right for you, your friend, your mother-in-law, etc, may all be irrelevant to someone else.

PS I'm proud to not tick the box to be associated with Specsavers!

    Expensive - try http://daysoft.co.uk/

as a self-employed optometrist in Melbourne I feel the need to speak up and state how dangerous it can be to change brands of CLs if they are not suitable for your eyes.

      • I tried out Daysoft - very dry after about 5 hours of wear. I recommend going to coastalcontacts.com and using the coupon FIRSTCONTACT for 20% off your first order

      • I will ask the question we all want to know….. why?

Please don't state how something is bad for you and leave it at that. Explain.

If the question is directed at me, I'm sorry for leaving you with a cliff hanger! :-)

Different contact lenses are made of different types of plastic. Some people are allergic, our intolerant to some materials, but not to others. Some people can wear one you're of daily lend for only 2 or 4 hours before they start getting some irritation, whereas another type of lens could be left in the eye (safely) for one month with not even a hint of irritation.
I graduated 17 years ago (I know, cue the dinosaur gags), and the quality of lenses has changed out of sight (pun intended) in this time. What frustrates me is that some optometrists are still prescribing crappy old lenses even though there are fantastic brilliant better new materials out there.

PS - sorry for long winded response. Feel free to neg me for being boring

        • Also BCs (base curve) on soft lenses mean almost nothing.
They are meant to describe how tight or loose a lens will fit on any given eye but in reality each brand / material / design fits differently and a theoretically tighter lens might be looser than another and vice versa. It has to be assessed by an optometrist under magnification.
Incorrect fitting can lead to unstable vision, lens adhesion and a few other nasty things.

So, you can't (errr, shouldn't) order a different type of lens just because all the "numbers" match.

From your other local optometrist (that graduated 6 years ago).

        • whats a good lens then

        • what's a good car, what's a good dishwasher, what's a good movie? - all pretty subjective depending on your eyes/needs/tastes

        • There are lots of good lenses but it's not possible to judge yourself if it works well for you or not. A comfortable lens can actually be doing you harm.

  • AAlens still much cheaper.

    • .

  • Acuvue Moist at AAlens = US$26 + $1.5 shipping
Acuvue Moist at SpecSavers = AU$21.6 + free shipping

Looks like SpecSavers is cheaper at least for this lens.

Btw any one knows what's the usual shipping cost for SpecSavers?

  • I just bought mine from Ozcontacts few days ago and for 1 Day Acuvue Moist 90 pack, that cost me $63 which works out to $21 per box. For orders over $109 it's free shipping, so if you get 2 x 90 pack it's probably worth it and delivery was amazingly fast, it took 2 working days.

I was POed by clearly contacts as they took freaking 3 weeks nothing was mailed out, no emailed update and not responding to my emails as well. Gave them a call, threw a fit and they apologize saying that they have to get it from the warehouse blah blah blah blah (basically wasting my time). Thus cancelled my order with them as all they can offer is an apology and still no stock at sight.

Anyway my partner found this for me and did first order, so far so good, claimable from health funds too.

  • BTW if you want it cheaper Call up ClearlyContacts and they will beat the price.

    • I do agree they beat it but it takes about a month before you get the item and just for less than a dollar savings. For me, it's not worth it.

      • Really? They always send it to me via FedEx and it arrives 3-5 business days.

  • For those of you with private health insurance, keep in mind that some of the suppliers mentioned here are not registered for you to claim your benefits with them.

  • Loving all the posts.
Someone recently told me Costco sell lenses cheap ; can anyone tell how much they charge ?

  • +1

Anyone knows about this site http://www.framesdirect.com/Acuvue-Oasys-contact-lenses-cp-n…? My GF needs Acuvue stigmatism for her right eye, and it costs her $50 here, but framesdirect's price is $35s if buying min 8 boxes, even with shipping of $19, it's still cheaper.
Haven't bought from this store, but the price is good.

    • http://www.quicklens.com.au/ were the cheapest for Accuvue Astigmatism when I was doing price comparisons for a friend about a month back. Note: depending on the rarity of the prescription, it may take 1-2 weeks extra for them to get stock in from their supplier. But you will likely face this lead time wherever you shop.

      • Thanks Aarcana, I had a look at that website, it is the cheapest in Australia so far I can find, but with shipping of $9.95, it is still more expensive by $5s per box after shipping

        • Call up ClearlyCOntacts tell them what you wrote here and they will beat it. I know I'm starting to sound like a Rep but thats I do if I want contacts these days.

*note to mention shipping cost as well.

  • Which are cheaper to use - Daily / weekly / fortnightly / monthly ?
    Will be buying acuvue.
    Just need people's opinions.

    Wear contacts daily

    • I have never done any research but looks obvious that Daily > Weekly > Fortnightly > Monthly.
You need to add the cost of cleaner, case and solutions for non Daily lenses.
I tried all kinds and found I cannot wear any contact lenses more than 7-8 hrs at one time. So my only option is Daily.

      • consider speaking to an optometrist about 3rd or 4th generation daily disposables that have a silicon component in them - There is one brand released only two weeks ago - called ProView Elite, and two patients I have tried it on are calling it the most comfortable lens they have ever tried.
        your mileage may vary

      • Daily =/= longer wearing time.

  • Has anyone any cheap and reliable Australia source for Purevision Multifocal lenses? (Specsavers seems not to have these online.) Companies I have found in Australia appear to charge double the price of those shipped from US. Best price I have found for these seems to be discountcontactlenses.com in US at about US$42 per box (4 box order) plus $15 to $26 shipping. Appreciate any helpful advice.
