Congrats to fickre for his FIRST and LAST post… EVER :)

      Perhaps Scotty didn't know?

    • I know this is going to be a hijacked scotty thread, and bingo! lol.

      Nice 1st post op.

  • Does anyone know why the U310s aren't available for australia?

    • Ask Lenovo Australia.

IdeaPad range has some very interesting products that are unfortunately not sold here. All the U-series for example. Maybe after Lenovo spins off the Think brand later this year?

Do many people buy a laptop worth more than 4k or a desktop for that matter?
I get all excited as I am in the market for a new laptop and I see 40% but when I look at the details I am only getting between 10-15% for a normal priced laptop.

      Top spec ThinkPad W530 with Core i7-3920XM, 15.6" FHD, 32GB RAM = $4,767.90 before discount. After discount = $2,860.74! What a bargain!

Well. Maybe not. It all depends on what you use the computer for.

BTW that's how much I've spent on a mid-range iBook G3-900MHz with 640MB of RAM in 2003, and many PC laptops are even more expensive back then (although a lot more powerful than the old PowerPC Macs). Price has indeed dropped a lot over the last 10 years.

Perhaps Scotty sees (correctly imo) that this 'sale' is nothing special. 40% off of high priced notebooks (that won't sell until they are 70% off) isn't tempting. Still watching though and thanks to all who keep posting ;^)

  • Thinking about importing the Yoga 13. Anyone know what happens regarding International Warranty if the particular model is sold in the country? It's worthless I presume

    • I've read there's some fine print stating that if they are unable to source the parts required in the same country then they won't cover it or something. And given the IdeaPad Yoga is unavailable in Australia, Lenovo will most likely state it's not covered. Some people have speculated, you may have to send it back to whatever country you imported it from.

I've also checked on the website and there's actually no contact number for the IdeaPad Yoga in Australia, whereas the thinkpads do. http://support.lenovo.com/en_AU/product-service/iws.page

I've imported the Yoga 13 anyway because this is the best one I've seen so far… just waiting for it to arrive now.

  • Avoid the T420 unless you want to be on a first name basis with the warranty section… Running about a 20% RMA rate on them where I work right now.

$4000+ workstation deal is great. Two xeon processors+ NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for about $2500…. tempted, only if I have some excuse to buy it.

    • Yeah considering the middle Xeon's are ~$700 each and dual MBs are bloody expensive..if you want a dual CPU workstation this ain't bad at all
