Looking for a HD4000 laptop for $400

Hi guys,

I am looking for an i3/Pentium laptop with intel HD4000 graphic at $400 mark. DickSmith was running a deal of the Asus F501A last month but I missed out. Trying to find something similar.

Main purpose of the machine: High-profile .mkv playback (1080p 10G+ files) as well as some Dota 2.

Thanks in advance.

  • The ASUS you were talking about that comes equipped with Pentium B970 does not have HD4000 (the Dick Smith site is wrong). It's actually just called Intel HD graphics and it is most similar to Sandy Bridge era HD2000 graphics.

Here is a list of mobile CPU's that use HD4000
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_Bridge_%28microarchitecture…

It looks like the bare minimum for a HD4000 is a Core i3 3110m. Unfortunately there is currently no laptop under $400 that runs a 3rd gen Ivy Bridge processor I can see on Static Ice.

At $400 though you can go to MSY and pickup an AMD based notebook, which should play DOTA2 with no issues.

  • Yea, I was actually quite puzzling. According to DSE's site it has a HM70 motherboard so I thought it's a new release of the Pentium platform. I did see an Acer V3 from MSY with i3-3110m and HD3000 for $399 but not sure if that's a mistake either.

For $400 I can only pick up something like an A4-3300M which is too weak for the CPU part.

    • As far as I know HD3000 was only ever on second generation i3/i5/i7 CPUs.

    • The weird thing is that HD3000 is stated on every listing of the Acer V3 3110M and that's why Im totally confused :X
