I've only ever flown cheapo, budget airlines. This pic is awesome and depressing at the same time.
EDIT: Just to make it clear, I found this on Reddit. Not my story (unfortunately).
Reddit: A very lucky upgrade to Business Class on Emirates' A380 flight. This is how it feels to travel like a king.

Eh its pretty nice, not quite as good as what bug did on OCAU, flew first class around the world on points only inc private cars everywhere etc.

This happened, not to me but some guys in front of me going from dubai to sydney. They changed our seats i assume because our connecting flight was late but damn! So close; lucky people!

I'd think it would go
Economy —> Business
Business —> FirstBased on what I've read in US aviation blogs, the majority of airlines have computer programs to determine who gets upgrades which usually factors in how much you fly with airlines, status, etc. They are truely getting better with inventory management as last time I checked in with United in the US, it told me the price to upgrade to business which I assume fluctuates depending on expected demand. Of course, flying cattle class airlines everywhere may have something to do with it.
