Do Aldi fruit + veg prices vary much from store to store? Since it's marked as 'reduced', specific store deal only?
Just in time for long Melbourne's hottest summer.
It's been summer for a while now.. ;)
nearly autumn
Thanks, will look out for it.
Didn't you just rant about Aldi in the forums, OP?
obviously those three reasons didn't apply here :)
Coles super special yesterday for $0.98 a kilo. Wonder how hundred percents of profit coles and woolies is making out of just on fruits and veggies.
Wonder how many farmers are leaving their farms through being pushed to the limit on prices? "Fresh food" might one day mean "imported" from overseas farms (how fresh can that be?) or alternatively from large conglomerates who can afford to buy up Australian farms and play to win against big supermarket chains at their own game. Sad to see small family farmers being driven out of their life and living. All for the sake of a CEO who wants a bigger pay packet. We're all just pawns in the game, trying to keep our cost of living down. So much for consumer sovereignty. Wonder how much Woolies and Coles CEOs are getting paid? Where is the ACCC in all this? Long term this is no good for Australians.
There's an inquiry into supplier bullying underway.

But as long as Coolies holds 70% of the market, ACCC's power is limited.
The only government department runs efficiently is ATO. They will come after you for every single dollar you short pay.
They don't seem to doing well against big business.
what about Sydney aldi's? are they the same prices?
I suspect it may be a store special. Still, I might buy at 69c/kg.
damn…bought one yesterday, and it was 69c/kg…
for some reason, Aldi's watermelon has different fruit 'texture' compared to a fruit shop or the other supermarkets…
Time for watermelon nights again? Just when I was starting to get sad..
$0.69 at Abbotsford. Still got it though. $0.88 at Woolworths upstairs
$3.45 each at Costco.
I bought melon from Aldi on special quite a few times and realise it's not fresh like Woolies, last Thursday bought 1 whole 69c/kg but still havent manage to finish them even with over 30 degree weather this weekend
mmmm
