Aldi Livingstone Guitars Acoustic Guitar $49.99; Semi-Acoustic Guitar $99 from 27 Feb

110

The Aldi Livingstone guitars are back again starting Wed 27 Feb.
As a number of forum users have concurred, they are quite decent guitars for the price.

Possibly eclipsed by the Epi LP Junior deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94021 but it does have more pickups (?)

If anyone else has one please comment, I am thinking whether to get that or a Vox Pathfinder from JB for around the same price.

$50 really is a bargain when you think of the benefits

  • And maybe if it does not perform to your liking you can use it for this!

Purchased one last year (Semi-Acoustic), junk! Wouldn't stay in tune and now sits in my shed collecting dust.

    • Thanks! Just saved me $99.99

  • Just bought the Semi-Acoustic, the string tensioner broke first time I used it. Took it back and got a replacement guitar which has tensioned up ok. Hope it's not a sign of things to come. Can't say I'm in love with the sound of it either.

  • I bought a couple of nylon acoustics - one for a friend who want me to teach them to play and the other for me to have to take places where I wouldn't want to take a good guitar - camping, picnics etc.

Machine heads (for tuning) appear stiff enough and have central screws for tightening if needed later. Tuned okay and as strings stretch-in they seem to be able to hold tuning. They have red and blond. Nylon-string models includes a pick-guard which is probably a good idea. Varnish finish looks fine albeit a little thinner than I'd like on joins meaning you'll need to avoid too much sweaty contact where right arm leans on the edge-joint of the lower part of the top-board with the side. Action is good and fret board and frets look fine too. Sound quality matches the price.

Overall very good value. If buying for a beginner I strongly recommend nylon strings rather than steel strings.

  • Also: mic-stands look quite well made and good value. The tripod legs on the music-stands seem less stable.

  • No semi acoustics left when I dropped by Auburn NSW an hour ago.

Anybody else aware of stock elsewhere in Sydney Metro?

  • Very happy with Aldi electric.
My 2 kids (11 and 8) have been learning on an Aldi electric ($50 unboxed bargain) for the past year.
They get weekly lessons. I keep asking the teacher if I should upgrade and he says the Aldi is doing fine.

OT. Consider Rocksmith Xbox/PC console game to make practice and learning fun

    Cheers Jeff
