Alesandro MS1 are, imo, the best headphones at this price.

Lots of reviews on the net.

      Eg: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/475206

      • Yeah these are nice, but I'd recommend the AKG K540. Very similar sound characteristics, with better high end.

they've been hovering around that price since january and where $89 3 weeks ago

    Feb 01, 2013 01:04 AM $89.37

    not really a deal

      thanks for that,
also just realised that these headphones aren't that great for music listening which were my intention for their use. (:

mine sound perfect for music listening.
brilliant soundstage. brilliant comfort (for big heads)

they probably aren't suitable for transit.. normally.

people say they lack bass compared to others, but sounds fine to me.
I haven't played with a lot of headphones though.

got mine with the last deal, inc postage/conversion/fees $109 i think

Honestly these headphones are great for music- amazing clarity and soundstage, not tinny at all, good highs and mids, but may be a little lacking in bass for some (particularly if you're a fan of the Beats headphones which are way to bassy imo.) These AD700s made me fall in love with my music collection all over again (and led to me spending even more money on a quality DAC to further enhance my listening experience!) I can highly and unequivocally recommend the AD700s for music listening.

    • re: "they've been hovering around that price.."

true but I found at that price they didn't usually ship to australia?
usually they would come to $130+ to aus.

  • Ive had these for years but I ripped one of my ear thingies off :(

    • If you ripped off the pad/cover you can get replacements from Audio Technica I think.

    • Why?

  • I am personally looking for a deal on the ATH-A700X as I prefer a closed set. Which according to camel*3, the lowest amazon.com price was $105.

  • im looking at red pro500mk2… anyone has?

Just spend an extra $30 and get the ATH-M50 from Amazon. Amazing pair of headphones.

Have you compared? I currently have the AD700s, bought them as an upgrade to ATH-M20s, and the AD700s are way better imo.

I was considering purchasing a pair of the M50s to supplement my AD700s, and to meet a need for a midrange/budget studio/multi-purpose pair of headphones, but from what I read, the M50s, like other closed back headphones, lack the soundstage and overall sound quality of open back headphones, so I decided to stick with what I've got, although they bleed terribly (not my ears, just the headphones) so aren't great for home studio recording.

      • +1

I have both. M50s definitely a more balanced sound, bass is reproduced well, but the ad 700 are still the better sounding phones (detail, clarity etc) because they're open. Neither are as good as my Superlux though ;-)

    • Different type of headphones and not worth $30 more in my opinion.

  • +1

I would recommend the ATH-M50 model over this model as they ARE AMAZING for a low price of around $115 when they are on special :)

  • +1

I got a pair of these a few years ago when i was into my gaming after reading quite a few reviews and recommendations, one of the best directional gaming value for money pair of headphones you can grab :)

  • I have had issues justifying a pair of these but I do love my M50s….. great isolation but yes these should have a better sounds stage

  • Damn I bought a set of these a while ago for quite a bit more and I am thinking of getting a second set to keep at work (and as a backup). I am very happy with them for games and for music.

Any idea how long this is on special?

If you buy a pair of these, make sure you try playing some BF3 multiplayer with them. Its fucking amazing. Great headphones, absolutely love mine to death.

Stick with the ATH-M50 much better for the $$

You can buy Audio Technica gear from Gadget Bliss here in Aus for the same price (free shipping in Aus)
