Castrol Edge 5W-30 $47.99 (save $22) - Engine oil sale at Repco this weekend (23-24 Feb)

130

5L Castrol Edge 5W-30 is on special again this weekend. Not as good as the previous deal - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90313, but still a very cheap price for a very good oil. I'll be replenishing my stockpile.

There are 3 oils on sale this weekend. The other 2 are -

5L Valvoline Engine Armour 15W-40 $16.99 (save $18), and for those people with an old beater -
4L Gulf Western 20W-50 $4.99 (save $10)

Limit of 3 per person

  • $4.99 for bog standard 4L engine oil. Bargain! People buying it are unlikely to be putting it in $20k vehicles anyway so they'll appreciate the bargain.

    • Yep, that Gulf Western oil is the true bargain of this deal.

    • yes the GW oil is only 4L, not 5, and i think its labeled not suitable for anything from 90s onwards, but it was too cheap when there was a similar deal at autobarn, i used it on a corolla i had and it blew a heap of smoke on cold starts, no apparent damage done, drove the same, but not really suitable
probably not for cars at $20k, maybe sub $5k

  • +1

Good find op. I'm a fan of Mobil 1 but Castrol is definitely a great oil

  • Does supercheap auto price match?

  • Which one would be suitable for Toyota Corolla 2004 model. btw it's not a 20k car. Not anymore.

    • I think the valvoline engine armour 15w-40 would be suitable…check in store they have guides….

    • 5W30 if your vehicle has low Kms (<800000Km).

      • 800000km is considered low? My 18 years old nissan has done only 200000km. Anyway, i am using valvoline engine armour 15w_40 (semi synthetic) and feel my car is more powerful and fuel efficient now.

    • 5W-30 is the recommended fill for that model Corolla.

  • Thanks, got 3 x GW oils today. I won't run my car on this oil, I've bought it to use as a cheap oil flush in between changes. ie: drive the car for 30-40km, return home and put the good stuff in. It gets that little bit more gunk out of the system and the next oil change is super-clean.

Keeping in mind, my car is a 1993 model so it can run on 20W-50 although I give it a quality 15W-40 diet. This tactic may not be suited on a newer vehicle.
