  Is it just me? It seems like a large (15"), heavy (2.1kg), mid range CPU (i5) with low memory (4gb) with a slow hard drive for $600? Does not seem to be that big deal to me… I purchased a very very similar spec ~2 years ago for about the same price.

  I tried to price match at TGGs. They say they can't match MSY.
  and Officeworks don't stock them =/

  It is a tad big, not top of the range spec
  but I wasn't able to find a laptop with a similar graphics card.

  Price is about $100 below others

  I'm going overseas so I can get GST back.

  The processor speed is only : 1.7GHz.

    It's a low energy consumption CPU designed for Ultrabooks
    HP is using it on their Sleekbook which sits between a normal laptop and a Ultrabook.
    It boosts up to 2.6-2.7GHz when you need it
    So no problem

      Great. So I hope performance compared to i5 2.5 Ghz wont be a problem.
      One of my friend was getting the following one for $680 from HN with staff discount.

  BTW, it has no optical drive. That kills it for me, but some may not mind.
  On MSy's current laptop pages the following look better for the price to me:
  HP M6-1010TX for 649 (better graphics card and CPU, plus optical disk, 15")
  HP DM4-3114TX for 619 (better CPU, little worse graphics card, plus optical disk, 14")

  Guess I will keep looking.
