Where can I get this for $1.66 usually?
Normal price if you keen to buy from Asian grocery stores. I bought a 40-pack box for $12.5 about a month ago which works out to be around 31.2c / pack
they are usually short-dated though, not that it takes me that long to finish a box ;)
your mistaken if you think the food is suddenly bad when the use by date is passed.
where did i say that? it's just something to keep in mind when you buy a box full you don't wantit sitting in the cupboard for another year
I think you are thinking of best before, there is a difference.
your mistaken if you think the food is suddenly bad when the use by date is passed.
If it's a "use by" date the food most likely IS bad. Best before dates are a different story.
I hate out of date mi goreng coz the powder clogs up and tastes bad
you need to know there is different between asian groceries and coles/safeway, asian groceries often sell the indomie for local consumer only and not for export therefor the quality is much more different than export quality which sold on the big supermarket. just read the package, if it is in BAHASA INDONESIA, you know it was meant to be sold locally and illegally import by asian groceries.
illegally import by asian groceries.
Which particular law have they broken?
Depending on the food, and how it's brought in, the labelling on the food may not be correct/illegal. I saw a packet of "Boy Bawang" (Filipino garlic flavoured fried corn) which had incorrect amounts for the nutritional information. When you peeled the label away, the amount underneath was ten times more than the one put on by the store.
Depending on the food
This one, "Indomie Mi Goreng"
If Indomie have a contract with their suppliers saying that some items are not to be sold/exported outside of Indonesia, and their suppliers breach that contract by exporting to Australia, those items could be said to be illegally imported.
If the product is marked "not to be sold outside indonesia" then they are illegally exported (indonesian POV), however not necessarily illegally imported (australian POV). As jv asked which australian law have they broken?
Nope.
Illegal means contrary to the law. Nothing to do with breach of contract.
Got a 40 pack for $10:50 last weekend at Footscray, VIC. 4 months left till expiry, but it won't last that long anyway.
They were still 24c at Woolworths on the weekend
Different brand. Supermi vs Indomie
Hasn't this brand been recalled in some countries (Malaysia?) due to banned substances being detected in the product?
Limited edition! Buy now before they're gone!
that was ages ago and the "local" product. The stuff you buy in woolies etc.. wasnt affected.
Just in time for the start of the new Uni year… Perfect. Ahhhh… the memories.
I currently have a Mi Goreng hangover/reflux. 3 packs for lunch, with no add-ons (just the 5 satchels in the pack).
When I burp, it smells funny.
Why did i go to coles 2 days ago?
Oh yeah, to waist money on expensive mi-goreng!
Thanks OP, going back AGAIN to make my original purchase not seem like a massive waist of money..
And for the haters that think "its cheap anyway, whats he winging about".. This is OZBargain! Every cent counts! If you eat too many instant noodles, you are likely to end up with a massive waist.
