how much windows 13" ultrabook equivalent (specs screen and weights) i can get?
Just buy a Mac already
No PC notebook with equivalent screen specs out just yet AFAIK. Acer has plans for notebooks with retina displays for later this year, though.
Also, the MacBook Pro isn't considered an ultrabook.
dell has one, $1800
Care to share a link? Can't see an equivalent in my quick search; closest I see is a 1920x1080 option for the XPS 13, which doesn't match the 2560x1600 of the MacBook Pro 13" Retina.
the one with retina has only ssd, i thought this one would be ultra light weight?
and when i wrote compare screen i mean screen size..
Having had the MBP 13" retina for a week now, I think it's overrated especially at this point in time.
Hardly anything takes advantage of the high resolution, and the majority of content is designed for lower resolution displays. OSX implements 'scaling' that cannot be turned off such that lower-res content appears a more 'normal' size, but the problem is that the scaling is terrible and images look blurred. Ironically, lower res displays showing the same content look better than the higher res MBP retina.
Where it does look better is obviously where you have content that takes advantage of the high res, such as high res photos and the like. However in reality the only time you look at photos in such high res is when you've just downloaded them from your camera. I think a 1080p display is more than enough for a 13" screen.
Add to that the image retention issues (not a deal breaker but annoying) and it's really only the nice build quality that's making me keep it.
These are their normal prices
Yes, this is the just-announced new-normal price. So not a bargain in the OzBargain sense of the word.
The gift card for uni students is $100, not $1100 as it says in the title. And the processor speed is 2.5GHz, not .5Ghz as it says in the description.
Rrp strike again
i will buy if there is really a $1100 gc back.
New permanent pricing announcement -> forums.
Moved.
Seriously…. urgh. Negotiated 10% off on the weekend and it only came down to $1700. Now it's $1649 without haggling. Guess I'll be taking advantage of that 2 week return policy. Wonder if I can get another 10% off the $1649!
negotiated at apple store?
Yep.
you can even pricematch
Not a deal, they've just lowered their pricing permanently.
