The thing with a lot of these free ebooks is that they often offer the first in a series free, in order to get you reading (and addicted, hopefully), and then buy the rest of the books.
There's a lot of these free ebooks out there - when browsing the Kindle bookstore, arrange by price, ignore the load of the vampire fantasy that comes up, and you'll find a few gems in there!
Getting addicted to reading isn't a bad thing though, and I'm sure anyone who does get addicted to a series would be thankful about it.
Getting the first in a series is not such a problem for me. I just hate when they give away something like book 3 in a series.
