USB Data Repair Service

I have a USB that is not being recognised by any computer I have tried it on. So I am looking for a repair person that is able to work their magic. I am in the Sydney area. Anyone out there able to suggest someone?

Thanks

  • What steps have you taken to fix the USB drive, yourself?

Even if you take it to someone who knows how to fix hardware the best they can do is to attempt to format it using some format tools which are readily available on the net, just requires a bit of searching.
Give the HP USB format tool a shot and see if it works for you.

It is not possible to fix the USB drive on the hardware level. If the NAND flash memory or micro-controller on the USB drive is dead, then the whole thing's kaput.

    • Thanks I will take a look at the links you provided for me.

Have looked through various forums and tips but nothing so far.

Realise it is a long shot that it can be saved.

  • any lights flash on it? is the device recognised at the hardware level (even if its contents are not recognised)?

try to make an image of it before anything else.

    • Light is flashing but the device isnt being recognised at the hardware level.

  • were talking a hard disk right? Some time the control board fails but the drive is ok you can crack it open and try reading it through a dock.

  • what are we talking about anyway? a usb thumb drive? a usb external hdd?

  • Even a USB thumb drive should be fixable ,do u think it could be the connector?? If so thank it to a jay car store and offer one of the guys $ to check ,fix ,if not try http://www.payam.com.au/content_common/pg-usb-flash-drive-re…

payam are very very very expensive

they provide a unique service and they are geared for businesses so…

    its an expensive lesson

store data on $2 harvey norman usb sticks? you deserve what you get

    • It wasnt a $2 HN usb stick. My problem was that I let a student at school put a document onto my usb, I gave in as their assignment was due on the day and they did have any credit to print out the document. It was becoming a battle with the student so I gave in. NEVER AGAIN!

It is my own fault I should have backed it up. Just trying to find out if there is a solution

  • Thanks for all the ideas so far. It is a USB stick.

Do you want to save the content on the drive?

    • Yep just trying to save the documents on the USB drive.

  • Format it, then run it through a data recovery program.
