Acer 27in 3D Monitor with 3D Glasses $299. Costco VIC (Docklands)

340

Saw this in Costco on a recent visit. Staticice lists them for about $600 and the cheapest on fleabay was $440.

The 3D glasses are Nvidia type so obviously suited to Nvidia graphics cards.

Not sure of the model but it looks like it could be this one: http://3dvision-blog.com/4455-review-of-the-27-acer-hn274h-3…

Seems like a reasonable price for a 27inch 3D capable screen!

    Tempting

Yes… only the 24 hour drive to get there is putting me off… :(

      • Maybe price match at OW etc?

        • +1

Officeworks doesn't sell that monitor nor does Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi or Harvey Norman either so how are you supposed to price match some thing which isn't even sold there. So probably no price matching going on.

Whoa, just a suggestion. See Devoks comment below on ordering one into OW.

        • I pick up one today at officeworks I went in looking for the 25" LG and saw this for $299 grabbed it 2D wise picture looks great (haven't tried the 3d yet glasses are indeed passive

  • Hey Phil, any 3D 24"/23" or smaller than 27" monitors on special? I'll ring up the Canberra store tomorrow but yeah, cheers :)

  • So I can't use my AMD 6850?

I am pretty sure my girlfriend would be upset if i suddenly have 27 inches and she can't use it

    • +1

Too bad your 27 inches will have a miniscule response time.

  • Do they have this at the Sydney Costco?

    • Ring up, I am contacting the Canberra store at 10am to find out also..and ill post here on my results…

  • Anyone know the model number? The glasses don't look like standard Nvidia ones.

    • That's because they're not Nvidia 3D glasses as they're passive 3D glasses. I don't know why the OP thought they were Nvidia glasses because the Nvidia active 3D glasses don't look the same.

I suppose he may have saw the Nividia Geforce 3D on the front of the box and thought it was an active 3D monitor. Bit of false advertisement by Acer there since passive 3D monitors have nothing to do with Nvidia 3D.

  • Extremely good monitor and I don't even use the 3d part

There is 8 left in costco auburn. Model number hr274h bmii. Made oct 2012.

Looks like it's passive 3D and only 60hz. Damn.

I was trying to determine if it was 60 or 120Hz. The confusing part is the Nvidia logo on the box implying that it is a 3D Vision Nvidia compatible monitor. If this were true then it would be 120Hz.

I checked a few websites and the base looks different on some of the 60Hz monitors but Acer site says 60Hz whereas others claim 120Hz.

As Kheob stated the glasses don't look like the traditional ones so here's what I found:

        60Hz: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009…

        120Hz: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009…

The monitor looks the same but the glasses with the Costco one look more like the first link for the 60Hz model.

        Still a reasonable price though.

Yeah, great price if you're buying it for the 3D.

        • -1

The reason being is that you're comparing two different models although they may look the same but they're two models which one is the HN274Hbmiiid which is the 120hz active 3D model and so it's a different model to what is being sold at Costco which they've got the HR274Hbmii on sale which is 60hz passive 3D.

Just for your note, Officeworks do special orders… As long uts a company that supply's stock for Officeworks, then price matching soundly be a problem.

    • Good point, would be interested in what 120hz/3D monitors they could potentially order in.

  • If it is a 60Hz monitor (not sure if anyone has been able to confirm) is it still worth it?
As I haven't signed up to Costco before it'd make it $359 inc. signup fee…decisions, decisions

Hey, I physically went to the Canberra Costco to check it out, about 12 monitors there around lunchtime. I can confirm that Kheob & Phil are right. Not 120hz and it is 60hz. I honestly don't think it's worth it. 27" resolution isn't the best but I wouldn't have minded that if it was 120hz, but it's not.

On a side note, you can purchase the membership, buy the monitor and then get a refund on your membership if you like, only downside is you cannot sign up for a year once you get a refund. I shop there every fortnight or so, so I like it but not for everyone.

Also, something to point out as I was looking at the monitor, that it does not have a DVI port, only 2xHDMI and VGA.

      Cheers

At least the LG Cinema 3D 25" monitor has a DVI port as well as HDMI. $229 for the LG 25" 60hz passive 3D monitor at OW isn't too bad. If you want a 120hz active 3D monitor you'll be paying about $500 for one. Passive 3D monitor is over half that price.

Yep, looks like I'll wait and see also. Building my PC around end of march but looking out for a good deal between now and then fingers crossed on a 120hz monitor, but if no bingo I'll go with the Benq. I missed out of the clearance of the Samsung 120hz, but at the same time wasn't sure if I wanted one, regret not just buying it!

Sorry mate, found a good deal on the same setup I have and tried to suggest it as it's a bargain (this being a bargain site) but it was deleted as a referral?

So I guess you'll have to keep those fingers crossed and hopefully you'll find the cheap deal you're looking for on your own.

Anyway I'd suggest against the Sammy as it isn't 3D Vision certified and it may be a pain to get it going with 3D vision, worst case you can use 3DTV Play but then you'll be limited to 720p.

        • Abaddon. Message me mate id like to check it out please
