Dishwasher

Looking for a dishwasher as I'm sick of doing the dishes 2-3 times daily.

Want to get a good price, I've heard Bosch is one of the best brands to get?

I want one preferably with the 2 draws and good water/power consumption rating.

Under $1000 if possible to

How about Siemens (part of the Bosch group) dishwasher - SN46E581AU comes with 5 year warranty?

I have had the same for 1.5 years now - very happy and using it regularly.

ES trading have it for 1017. Also, Siemens are offering a $100 cashback if purchased before 28th Feb.

European made Dishlex for sale at Harvey Norman for under $500. I bought one last week with 5 year replacement warranty for $580.

  • I always thought of Dishlex as a budget name? How's your running?

  • Also do I have to look at certain types of dishwashers? I.e. Freestanding, built-in, etc.?

Dishlex is the most budget name around at the moment. My old dishwasher was an AEG which is a higher end model and broke down several times died so I thought I'd go with a cheapie with a long warranty. As it is if it breaks down within 5 years they will not repair but replace with a new one. Considering this one cost a third of the old one I'm willing to do without a couple of extra buttons. I only ever use one wash cycle anyway. The repairman who pronounced my old one dead said go for a popular brand like Dishlex and avoid anything made in China. This is made in Europe. It will be installed next Wednesday so can't report on how wonderfully it washes dishes yet.

Fisher paykel dish draw can be had or just over $1050.

We bought the 900mm single dish drawer. Saves on the back, but 10 place setting, $1049 on a super special.

Asko, F&P, Miele are good brands. Whirlpool can be had under $400 at masters, and then heaps of no-name brands for sub$400

  • my parents had a smeg for 15 years that I bought for them for $900ish.
my current machine is a whirlpool. it was $370ish from masters

nice machine but I find my maxwell& williams dinner plates have to sit around the edge of the drawer otherwise they stop the spinning water jet thing.

If you want a dishwasher that is quiet, efficient and just does its job. Bosch, you answered your own question.
My Mother in law bought a new Whirlpool recently, it's noisy, I think its ability to clean dishes is suspect and it's just plain ugly looking in the kitchen. Spend the money buying a Bosch and you'll be on here advising someone in the future as well.

  • We've got a Miele and it's been nothing but trouble. In the four years we've owned it we've had four service calls and they took it back to their workshop and gave it a thorough going over, and were still unable to fix it or admit that it's faulty. It cost about $2000 originally!

Basically it fills with water and then fails to drain. And it seems tons of people on the net are experiencing the same issue.

We haven't had to pay for a service call yet as it was under warranty but it's not under warranty anymore and they've advised us of the cost this time we've called up to complain. Paying $180 for another service call to fix the same problem which may last as little as 4 months (it last broke down October 2012) until it breaks down again is just a joke.

Steer well clear of Miele, trust me it's not worth the pain.

We've had dodgy whitegoods before, an LG fridge which froze the contents of the fridge repeatedly, but LG actually resolved the issue eventually and we've had 10 years of service out of the fridge.

Not Miele. I'm not sure what you get for having spent all that money on a premium brand exactly. Certainly not piece of mind.

  • I have a few rentals properties and I have the cheap $500 Westinghouse in them and have had no issues in 10 years, so that says it all in my opinion.
Tenants usually manage to break everything prematurely but not these (touch desk)
For myself because I have limited space in my own place I have a half sized $350 Omega 6 place DW and have been more than happy with that as well.

  • Am also looking at a new dishwasher, have noticed that Graysonline auctions list them with minor damage and they are cheap enough. Have not bid on anything as I do not know how to win, as I 'think' if you bid in the last 5 mins the auction is extended and that could go on for ever if there is another interested buyer. Check it out.
