Is it possible to get a USB 3 Micro USB to USB cable?

For say my external HDD (1 TB, but it was bought without a dual USB 2/3 compatibility) or to connect my phone to the laptop? Oh and if it's possible, would it actually deliver the speeds of USB 3 or not?

  • All USB3 devices are USB2 compatible. A USB3 cable has more cores in it, and more pins on the connector. If you use a USB2 cable for any USB3 device it should work just fine, at USB2 speeds. PC USB3 plugs fit into (and work) on a USB2 socket. Device USB3 plugs (that connect to printers, cameras, phones, etc) don't fit into USB2 sockets.

    Does this answer your question?

    • He means something like this but just being able to plug into a phone instead of a hard drive, and if it will increase the speed of transferring files to his phone.

As far as I know there is no such cable.
