  Wanted to learn beginners Japanese and its $270..

    Google the script of your favourite Japanese film - get it in English and Japanese (romaji). Look up each word and google some basic grammar rules.

    You'll remember the words and phrases because their on the context of them film. Watch it many times, pausing after each line until you know what was said.

  These courses are great, especially the language ones.

  I wish I was in Sydney I would definitely take up Hebrew or Greek.

  I'm doing German at ANU (since I'm in Canberra). The courses are generally offered by academics/experts and work out to be much cheaper than hiring a private tutor. And you get a certificate upon completion endorsed by the institution at the end.

    Depend on the course. Most (about 99%) are face to face though not necessarily on Broadway campus. There is a psychology one that is online.

  $50 doesn't seem like much if you're taking one of those courses that cost like $900. USyd needs to step it up a notch.

    They are expensive, but very good. I agree they need to review their pricing downwards. Lately they seem to have cut the number of courses in line with a down economy rather than decrease prices though.
