Looking for a new dvd player for my mum to play her UK/US/ international dvds. Frustrating looking online for a deal because nearly all the listings don't even mention whether the players are region 4 (Aus) or all regions. Found Highlander multi-region players at Deals Direct, but the reviews put me off - many stopped working after a month or so. A branded player would be preferable. If you can recommend a good dvd player which plays multi region dvds, please let me know the details. We are in SA. Thanks for your help.

Thanks gabbyh, I'll check it out. Looks good!
All sony players sold now (dvd only not blu-ray) are all region. Also all LGs can be unlock using your remote. There is unlock codes at: http://www.singingwolf.com.au/movie-and-music-sales/dvd-videā¦
Strathfield sell a highlander with upscaling/HDMI usb sdhc support for $88 . They will easily go to $80 and a guy I know bought 2 for $140 . Oh yea and its totally region free and plays all divx movies except High Def stuff that I've thrown at it .
Mum purchased this multi-region Dvd player currently reduced to $30 in store at West Lakes Ezydvd.
The Wintal PDVD20HD is an option http://wintal.com.au/dvd_players/10308105.html
Download the manual here http://wintal.com.au/files/manuals/PDVD20HD_manual.pdf to get a feel for the unit.
Although it is not a brand name like Sony or Pioneer it is feature packed and has local support. They are available on ebay for under $80. Over the past few years I found that it I could not justify the higher prices that some name brands were charging, especially given they sometimes did not have all the features (eg. USB) of the Wintal units.
