      yes..it even accepted australian visa debit card. they sometimes have 1 month free trial. I used unblockus though.

Is there something special about these free ebooks? Just wondering what makes them stand out. Checking ereader IQ and knocking out the Religious books and some of the more obscure non-fiction categories leaves about 400 ebooks added to the store in the just the last 24 hrs that are free. The vast majority of them all have a usual list price that is not free so I suppose what I'm really wondering is what makes these ones a bargain.

First link wasn't free. I clicked a couple and got the free ones and in my haste I clicked send to my kindle too quickly and then realised it was $2.99! (but free for Prime). I quickly went to Manage my Kindle to request a refund though (you have up to 5 days or so from memory to claim) for accidental purchase.

      They're not OCR errors, they are formatting errors since they were not converted from image scans. (The out of copyright ones from the Gutenberg collection were typed in by volunteers. Some works are pretty good, e.g. those of Sherlock Holmes, Alexandre Dumas. Most of the badly formatted free ones were probably written on word processors and published without any quality control. Understandable when a good editor costs money, unless you have a helpful friend who is one. Personally I find the bad style and the spelling mistakes in amateur e-books more distracting than the appearance.
