  • $15 dollars postage for two items is still too much.

  • Sorry, but I'm with M27.
OzBargainers are highly resistant to the shipping charges you impose at SSQ.

  • I agree. I don;t feel like I am getting a bargain when I am ripped off on shipping. These 2 items could fit in a $5.50 Aust post satchel…. Come on SSQ come to the party, and we would shop more. This is about the 6th time I have not bought something that I would have bought, yet thought the item was good and gone and bought it somewhere else…..

    • That makes 3 strikes,,, and they're outa here………..

      • On the other hand, as noted previously, some people evidently aren't bothered by expensive shipping - e.g. this shoppingsquare deal (8 +ve) and this dailygizmo deal (3 +ve).

Throwing the question out there then - is it fair for this deal to be buried before some of those people might have a chance to see it? Not that I'm suggesting you should not be allowed to vote as you wish when you wish - but shouldn't that apply equally to any others that have come to the website after the negative votes?

I've suggested a possible solution (timers) in the Comment Voting/Moderation topic in the forums.

        • It depends how people search the site. I search under "new deals" and never even really look at the votes. I hardly ever even vote personally. Only if I feel strongly about something. … Like consisently expensive shipping.. that annoys me….

          • @ltompsonny: The visibility of deals on both the front page and in new deals is governed by a threshold in user account preferences. If a deal does not meet the threshold (default 5 for the front page and 0 for new deals; min -2 and max 25 selectable) then it cannot be seen.

Thus if two or more negative votes are cast against a new deal, the deal becomes invisible to anyone that has not adjusted their preferences, with accordingly little hope of reversal. This is what transpired in the previous example, which was buried within 26 minutes of being posted by three votes against expensive shipping.

However, had the deal remained visible it is possible that it could have been seen and received a number of positive votes from people who are not deterred by expensive shipping. That is the issue.

  • $15 no way

  • Agreed with super ex postage…..
