Same woofer as previously posted here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87342 though $50 cheaper this time.

Not the cheapest ever according to Camelx3 but I haven't been able to get subs shipped to Aus before.

You'll need a stepdown transformer which can be had from Ebay for about $20.

1- Your link is wrong as it is to your shopping cart
    and
2- amazon.co.uk version = local voltage compatible, amazon.com version is 110v (e.g. not compatible without voltage adapter)

  • Link not working
    if you mean this one.

it is 110 Volt only wont work without an expensive NON-switchmode stepdown transformer
    UK MODEL (COMPATIBLE WITH AU)

      • that step down is cheep, but would you really want have to use that? its ugly and its going to use power

Bound to be noisy (switchmode) if you don't mind you sub making a buzzing sound go for it.
The style suited for audio equipment is $100+

        • Isn't that switching the wrong way? 240v to 110v???

I agree it would be better to source a UK/European version.

        • sonicentropy - That is not switchmode, which is why it's so large. A switching step-down is substantially smaller.

The only difference between that one and the one you linked to is that the cheap one is not isolated. It is also known as an autotransformer.

The isolated one is theoretically safer, but it's similar to a Volvo vs a Kia. The Volvo is safer, but millions of people happily drive Kias safely.

btw I just had a look at the isolated stepdown you posted. It makes a big deal about being "totally isolated" but states that the earth pins on the input and output are connected. That breaks the isolation!

paulorox - the sub is 110V and we're 240V, so you do want to drop 240 down to 110.

How do you propose the earth pins be isolated?

For it to be isolated, the output side must not have an earth pin that's connected to input earth. You don't need an earth connection for an isolated transformer.

    Another Jamo post…

Don't tell me that 2013 will be the year were we see a Jamo product posted monthly as a bargain because it dropped a few dollars for the last post.

Ok, we get it, Jamo new sell some cheap gear, and the price can fluctuate, but there is more to audio gear then the Jamo SUB 210…..or a Jamo S 426

They are cheap because the BOM is cheap. Surly there are other brands out there offering some great performance for maybe a little more.

These Jamo poverty spec speakers are nothing more then a bit of MDF and speakers I wouldn't give you a tenner for!!!…Its the same s**t you see on people's council strip on clean up night!!

Come-on, we have missing the other bargains if we just focus on the Jamo range!!

    • Post up then………

Fact is, despite the negs, there is nothing available that comes close to the bang for buck you'll get from this woofer.

Didn't post because it's Jamo, posted because it's a bargain.

      • Its not a bargain, its a 110V paper weight!

    • +1

Jamo always made cheap gear, Richer Sounds in the UK always had it in the 90's I remember along with cheap Mission and Warfedale stuff… It's just the cheap stuff costs a lot here :)

  • Just buy a SVS sub and be done with it imo. Do it once, do it right.
