JB Hi-Fi Price Match Query

Hi all,

I'm keen on buying the Yamaha JB573B 5.1CH Home Theatre System.
It is currently priced at $1759 in store and online. I however saw on whirlpool forums that people had managed to buy it <$1000 late last year.
I have managed to get hold of the image of a invoice of such a purchase made in NSW. I live in Melbourne.
What are the chances that I get a price match?

  • Best to just contact the stores and ask. If the price match was reasonable I'm sure they will work something out for you. If it was a one off as part of a deal then you will have a tough time but you can still try :)

  • The question which will be posed is, does the original supplier of the product selling for <$1000 still sell it for that price?

Some price matches also ensure that the seller has stock in of the product.

  • Chances are it'll come down to the individual you're dealing with on the day. If it was an existing offer, I'd say no you shouldn't have a problem. But because it's a price that is over a month old might lower your chances of getting them to match it.

You're best bet is to (in a nice way) ask to speak to a manager when you're in the store and be understanding if any old sales staff on the floor can't do it. Sales attendants are always trying to get bigger sales for themselves, managers tend to be more focused on keeping the customer happy.

    Good luck!

  • no chance i printed off a tablet reciept off here and every store said to me they wont price match it off a orint out

  • Jb is crap st price matching.
Went to parramatta jb, they wouldn't price match an iMac from a store in Burwood NSW, claiming it was out of stock.
They wouldn't price match an iPhone saying they'd only price match places like HN, bing lee, etc. They are a waste of time, IMHO.

  • It depends on who you talk to. One time I saw a deal on Ozbargain and saved a photo of the receipt on my phone. I asked the employee, "A friend got it for $xxx, can you match it?" He checked his database and said, "No problems." Didn't even ask for an invoice.

  • Tried to price match at JB. The sales guy did not want to budge from its RRP.
