80
VHMS13

Vitacost are having a 24 hour sale on vitamins and supplements. They have a huge range of products and already low prices. For those who are new to Vitacost they are very good for:

  • Multi vitamins
  • Fish oil
  • Workout supplements
  • Diet supplements
  • Many more…

Please note that this deal requires a coupon code so it can't be used with the $10 off referral code for new customers which I have posted before.

Tip: Try to keep your order to 3.4lbs or less to get $9.99 flat rate shipping. It becomes a bit expensive for orders over this weight.

      retracted

  • Buy BOGO 1/2off products plus 15%off and rebate to make the best deal!

    • whilst normally this would be a good strategy, the exponential increase in postage would kill it. (unless you're buying vitamins or something)

  • Can anyone advice how long the shipping usually takes for sydney?

    • +2

      nearly 2weeks

Shipping used to be really cheap, from $3. Now it's from $10. Sadface.

        It really could work.

Last month Vitacost stopped shipping creatine to Aus so I sent them a number of emails complaining about it. I also went on their support chat a couple of times and complained (using different names) and got the customer service rep to talk to their supervisor about it who passed it on up the ranks for consideration.

They conveniently stopped shipping it to Aus when they put their home brand creapure on sale for 50% off ($9 for 1kg german creapure? - That's unheard of) so I made sure to critique them on poor business form due to restricting deals to international customers.

Earlier this month they eventually allowed creatine to be shipped to Australia once again.

I also brought up increased shipping rates ($3>7) and the $10 referral coupon minimum spend amount.
They said their shipping company has raised their rates but I kinda doubt that.. Especially when it's more than doubled. I think they just increased shipping costs to make their money back from the $10 referral abuse that happened a little while back (particularly with the shakers and under $10 items).

    • $10 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Going up and up and up!!!!!!!

looks like shipping has been increased from $6.99 to $9.99? that hurts.

all my regular products have been excluded from the sale also.

    strong disappointment.

    • +5

      wat $10 now?

    • +5

Yup, Vitacost is slowly turning into just another average online supplement store.

    • That's a shame. I've updated the post. Still some good deals but it was awesome when they had $2.99 shipping.

      • I saw your comment on facebook:)

Last month,I ordered something from them.it was $6.99 for 3.4lbs.

        • -1

Yeah I think $2.99 has been gone for a while

        • It was definitely $6.99 3 days ago, that's when I last ordered some stuff.

        • +3

Well I placed an order this morning @7.50am, and it was still $6.99 for <3.4lb - also no 15% code was available at the time …

kinda not happy that it's now $10 ….. more than a 3x increase in under 12 months??

        • decided to send them a email ….

"Increase in shipping rates to Australia - 300+% increase in less than 6 months???

          Hi

I've been using Vitacost for a little while now, and one of the main attractions of moving my vitamin/supplement purchases to Vitacost was the more affordable shipping rates to Australia. Whilst some products were more expensive than other sites, the shipping rates offered brought the overall cost down.

However, in less than 6 months, the 'basic' shipping rate has moved from $2.99 (August 2012) to $6.99 (October 2012 and up until 27 Jan 2013) to $9.99 (28 Jan 2013) - this is a 333% increase in less than 6 months. Whilst I'd appreciate that costs do go up, and the customer ultimately pays for any increase, but such a substantial increase in such a short period of time is, to be honest, verging on the ridiculous. By my estimation, and based on this history of increases, shipping to Australia will be in excess of $100 by this time in 2014 - probably worth more than most order values.

I'd really like to understand why shipping to Australia has had such a increase (when other sites have not, and using the same shipping company).

          Looking forward to your response"

    • now gotta think of referral as 'free' shipping.

    • +1

Sadface, you can image that they'll lose a lot of international business, when you consider that Asian companies went from $2.99 to $8.99, they are probably at $15 now

Item(s) are not valid for promotion code: VHMS13

  • Hmm, trying to buy centrum and bilberry. They seem to be the cheapest by far, despite the shipping cost.

  • USPS have increased their international postage rates in the last 24 hours. That is why the postage has gone up.

    • +1

      They're using DHL though.
Also, shipit.to (connects to all the mail servers' prices on the spot) reports a 30cm x 25cm x 23cm, 3.4lb (this is the largest box I've had from Vitacost, my 2nd package was in a smaller box) shipping cost to be $4.82 (USD) via USPS.
A company as large as Vitacost would also have access to the same shipping prices (minus the shipit.to middleman fees) as shipit.to

    • It's also strange because on all the DHL parcels, the route name (on all 3 of my vitacost boxes have this) goes like this: S6N-USA-USPS-AU

  • What's the cheapest online stores from vitamins, either locally or O/S? I'm looking to buy a few things which I have had very little luck with locally.

i.e. something I wanted on Amazon US for around US$30 I've only found on ONE aussie online store, for $85. Sheesh. :( Unfortunately Amazon US won't ship it to Australia though.

    • Vitacost are still really cheap. Try iherb.com and bodybuilding.com too as it depends on the products and shipping rates.

      • Thank you! As sad as this sounds… I have a thing about tablets (can't swallow them easily) so I like to have the liquid form of things. I'm specifically after liquid CoQ10 but it's just too expensive to buy locally (and 99% of aussie places don't sell it).

Vitacost does have it, and the price is decent - so it just depends on the shipping rates for a couple of bottles :)

  • If you're after CoQ10 make sure you educate yourself about the two different types, ubiquinol and ubiquinone.

One is cheaper. One is a lot more effective, especially if you are over 40

I hope this increased shipping is not a permanent thing.

I order the small whey but with shipping at $9.99 its just as cheap to buy a larger lot locally now although some vitamins should still be a lot cheaper.

  • Certain items are not valid for this code. I couldn't apply it on whey protein.

  • Just as a heads up, because of the increased shipping costs I decided to use priority mail (the one used to be double the price of the cheapest option) - so I'll see how fast it gets here - as if it gets here in 7 days that is pretty good.

    • I call bullocks on their "increased shipping costs" since only the base-rate has increased but the priority mail cost has not increased at all.

      • yeah gotta agree with you - here's their response to my query below

"Thank you for taking the time to contact Vitacost.com to inquire about the increase in shipping rates. The published rates for our services have increased. However, Vitacost continues to expand our portfolio of shipping solutions, helping us to better serve you. Also the shipping rates are based on weight of the order and the destination of the order.

Recently, we introduced a flat rate option for DHL Priority just like DHL Global Mail. Priority packages will arrive 2-7 days faster than Global Mail.

As always, packages weighing 4.4lbs or more (total weight including packages) may get full end-to-end tracking with one of the DHL options (Global Mail or Priority). Some countries (such as Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand) do get full tracking for 80%+ of packages weighing more than 4.4lbs"

        some my follow-up email is…

        "Hi
        Thanks for your response.

I’d like to get some clarity on some of the comments you’ve made, particularly there relevance to my initial query.

        1. “Vitacost continues to expand our portfolio of shipping solutions, helping us to better serve you.” – can you outline what options have been added over the past 6 months that were not in existence prior?

        2. “the shipping rates are based on weight of the order and the destination of the order” – this has always been the case, so not sure why the comment was made. My query was that within 6 months, the delivery cost to Australia has increased twice and by over 300% despite orders going to the same destination (Sydney, Australia), and the same weight (under 3.4lbs)

3.”we introduced a flat rate option for DHL Priority just like DHL Global Mail. Priority packages will arrive 2-7 days faster than Global Mail” this has no relevance to my query for the ‘standard service’ – are you saying that this service is ‘penalised’ for the DHL priority service ?

        1. “packages weighing 4.4lbs or more (total weight including packages) may get full end-to-end tracking with one of the DHL options (Global Mail or Priority). Some countries (such as Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand) do get full tracking for 80%+ of packages weighing more than 4.4lbs” – irrelevant to my query, again my query is centred on orders under 3.4lbs have had the shipping cost increased by over 300% in 6 months to the same destination.

        Regards"
