eSIM Plan recommendation for My Son’s Galaxy Watch 8

Hey everyone,

Just after some advice - what’s the best eSIM plan to use in my son’s Galaxy Watch 8? I’ll be pairing it with my S24 Ultra.

Mainly want him to be able to call/text me, and use GPS if needed.
Any suggestions for good value plans (most likely postpaid)?

Thanks heaps!

  • probably have a look at some 365 days deals going on at the moment you can switch to eSIM on a few of them.

I don't know if WearOS watches are meant to be used as standalone devices, and by two people.
You may have to check your app settings and restrict watch access to messages etc. that come to your phone from reaching the watch.
There's also a feature to transfer notifications when devices are not in Bluetooth range. You may want to turn that off, too.
Also, the watch usually uses the same main google+samsung account as the phone. Check if you have to restrict/change that, too.

I mean no issues if you don't mind your son accessing your email, messages etc.

Almost all LTE watches are meant to be used with some sort of number-sharing feature that's provided by telcos.
i.e. you have the same number for the watch and the phone.
When the phone and watch are together, the watch LTE is turned off and the call comes to the phone; when they are apart, both should ring(or however you've set it up).
On Samsung, you can hack this via developer options to install a separate number — you used to be able to do this on Pixel watches, but they have since removed it from the app, now you have to sideload the old app to get it working on Pixel watches.
So don't expect this to be available forever on Samsung either.

Also, at least on my Galaxy Watch 6, I haven't been able to have LTE always on. So LTE is turned off automatically when the watch and the phone are together — probably not a big issue when you're both together.

I've been on Lebara PAYG for the last few years, over a few Samsung LTE watches, and now with a Pixel Watch 3
It was $5 for the SIM and then $10/yr. I used $5/yr on data at max. but my usage is very minimal as I'm only without the phone for less than a few hours every week when I go running.

    Woolworths Everyday eSIM —> https://mobile.everyday.com.au/mobile-phone/esim

I use it in my SS Watch 6 Classic and paired it with my SS Galaxy 10 (which has an ALDI SIM)

    PrePaid $180 / year

    [edit] uses Tel$tra towers
