BenQ W1060 Projector (True 1080p) for $798 at Officeworks

90

I was in Keysborough VIC Officeworks store and noticed today that the BenQ W1060 projector has been lowered to $798 (as far as I can tell, this is the cheapest brand new price available, the BenQ refurbish website has it for around $600).

Even though the website says sold out online, it would appear that a few stores still have them in stock - so if you've been holding off for a cheap proper 1080p projector, this might very well be what you're looking for.

  • Are these any good as a home theatre projector? Has anyone tried it?

    • One of my mates has the 1050 (or similar). Had it for over 12 months and loves it.
I can see a slight rainbow but only when I'm really trying.
Modern projectors are awesome. High def, massive screen, quiet and cheap to run with super long life globes nowadays.
We just watched the second half of the Two Towers on my XGA Epson (more than 5 years old now and recently on its second globe) and even that's pretty decent. I'm very tempted by this offer but sadly the nearest branch with stock is Mildura!

Been waiting for a 1080p upgrade too :(

  • Have had one of these for 6 months. It's a good projector and reasonably bright (even in indirect sunlight), works well with PC connection for watching bluray/playing games. I won't say much more as I'm not much of an expert on projectors.

  • I'm guessing this is an older model as the Benq W1070 has just been released and it is really good. Officeworks sells the W1070 for $998.

    • That is a 3d projector right? I would rather save $200 + $100 on 3d glasses as i don't watch 3d movies. Does anyone know what is the lowest price range for a non 3d fall hd projector?

      • This is..

  • if i want to choose a good projector (at good price), where can i find the reviews/comments, etc? any good forum or website?

    • try this site…http://www.projectorcentral.com/

Got this one last year from OW for 999 and its quite good for the price.
on ECO mode, the noise is reasonable, there's no lens shift so need patience to align with the screen.

overall, Im quite happy with this projector.

      regards,
      Eric

  • What do the new lamps cost for the BenQ W1060?.

    • They're cheap enough on eBay, but in Eco mode the lamp lasts for 6000 hours.

To put it another way, you could use it for five hours every single day, and the lamp would still have some life left after 3 years - you probably won't replace the lamp within the life of the projector.

  • Good deal; but its nothing compared to the quality of the new EPSON range. About the same price for the entry level models.

    • Link please?

    • Same price or nearly twice the price? Low-Mid range (ie FullHD) Epsons have hung around $1400 for the past few years that I've seen.

    • Yeah - I'm curious. I didn't buy this deal (have a little Dell M110 filling the void in the Dell Factory Outlet sales), but I'd definitely be curious to see Epson ones less than $1,000.

The ones I've seen at Harvey Norman at the $2,500 range look great, but having also seen a W1060 set up, I'd rather save nearly $1,800 for a slightly lesser picture quality (unless you're showing them side by side, it's difficult to pick fault in the BenQ).

    • Erm, Epson don't have any 1080p projectors for anywhere close to this price !
