Noticed that there are a few people looking for a good deal on the Gopro Hero3 Black at the moment. This wont suit everyone as it is naked, it's missing the housing, remote and mounts and comes with generic (non gopro) batteries and charger.
An alternative, is this deal, which comes with a gopro brand battery and is what I'm buying as I want the wooden housing (light weight) http://www.fpvmodel.com/gopro-hero3-camcorder-black-edition_…. I am a nerd and I want to put this camera on my model helicopter.
In my situation I dont want the plastic housing and I am happy to use the smartphone app instead of the remote so this deal suits me, it wont suit everyone.
If you are thinking of getting one of these and using without the housing, I'd recommend picking up a UV filter for the lens to protect it available for an extra 5 bucks from these stores.
I have purchased from foxtech before without issue, used EMS which was super quick but from memory just left the package on my door step.
From the gopro website…. Housing $49.99, WIFI remote $79.99, grab bag of mounts $19.99, so depending what you a looking for a naked gopro may or may not work out to be a good deal for you.
Tempting, but it looks like several people have needed warranty replacements/repairs on these, so 3 months warranty makes me hesitant.
