Probably not a huge difference, other than original 7970 has a 925 MHz clock, and was later released as a 'Ghz Edition' with a 1 Ghz clock, so a 925 MHz should be cheaper (and a bit slower) than a 1 GHz.
Some also stick more memory on, but this is generally useless.
