Fifth Leg Bad Taste Amnesty - Swap Any Bottle of Wine for a Bottle of Fifth Leg (26th Jan)

400

The Bad Taste Amnesty is your chance to rid yourself of any bad wine you have once and for all in exchange for a quality bottle of Fifth Leg, free.

Here's how it works:

  • Search for an unopened wine in your home that’s just plain bad. (If it tastes like acid wash, shagpile or Eurovision, you’re on a winner.)
  • Bring it to any First Choice Liquor store on Australia Day, Saturday January 26, between 10am and 2pm.
  • Swap it for any bottle of Fifth Leg white or red wine, free.

Might be good for those who picked up some cheap wine deals recently and want to diversify their collection. Fifth Leg normally sells for around $10 per bottle.

  • Rather restrictive period, but might give it a go. Can you only get a white for white and a red for red?

    • Seems like the full T&C are as follows:

Offer valid while stocks last. Limit: 1 swap per person of an unopened and undamaged 750ml bottle of red or white wine at any First Choice Store between 10am and 2pm on day of swap.

Doesn't say anything about having to do red-red or white-white, so I guess you can do any combo.

The BWS near me has $1.80 red wine. Winning!

    Bummer,

" The promotion is limited to one bottle per consumer."

there goes my cunning plan of buying a few cases of crap and trading up.

      What you don't have 11 willing slaves^Wrelatives over 18? :)

  • +4

Plot your day around first choice locations.

    • And can be reached within 4 hours. Unfortunately there are few around here and petrol costs would wipe out most of the savings.

      • +9

And you wouldn't want to waste Australia Day driving around - could be drinking up wine, or the last of the red back beer!

  • How are we to know it tastes like acid wash if it's unopened? ;)

    • Maybe you bought a few bottles and tasted one? But who cares? If you don't want it and it's cheap, swap it.

What I'm curious to know is what they will do with the bad wine. Will they have a oddbins sale for those punters who think another person's acid wash is their delightful vintage? ;)

      • +4

Will be repackaged and sold as sangria.

      • Will be donated to cooking classes said the rep.

    • When you manage to get a case of wine delivered for free, and have tried one- then realised that when a white wine calls itself "Feisty" and it's free, it's exactly what you expect it to be… may have to get rid of one of them here…

    does this include homebrew?? hehehe

  • this is great. i have some really old dirty wine i found under the house and the label isnt even in english.

  • No rose?

    • Only reds and whites on offer but you can still swap your mouthwash rose.

    • Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot:
The palate shows soft and lush flavours with persistent
red and blueberry characters supported by a fine tannin
structure. The finish displays lovely length and a
      harmonious fruit and oak balance.
      Rose:
The red fruited theme continues on the palate with savoury
notes keeping the palate balanced. Cleansing acidity
creates a crisp and cleansing finish. In typical Rose
      fashion - extremely more-ish!
      Chardonnay:
A crisp lively palate. Crunchy granny smith apples give
way to sweet stone fruits and are finished by a mouth
      watering racy citrus finish.
      Semillon Sauvignon Blanc:
Seamless from start to finish the wine tastes of the sea.
Fresh vibrant gooseberry passionfruit with a clean crisp
      finish.

  • awesome.

I have a case of Henley Hill "Vibes" Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc that I bought from Cracka wines here - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68674

didn't so much give me Vibes but stomach cramps. I was an arts student in the 90's and drank alot of uber shite booze and this stuff takes the cake for the absolute worst. usually a terrible white that is well chilled will ease paste taste buds with minimum unpleasantness but this stuff is horrid. The case (minus 1) has been sitting around gathering dust for 9 months.

looks like altomic, his mate in glasses - altonic, his mate in a hat -oltomic, his mate in glasses and a hat and red t-shirt -oltonic, his shirtless mate with a fake looking moustache -altomi, etc, etc are going to pay a visit to 1 st Liquor over a four hour period on Ostraya day.

    • swapped 2 of these at margate store for 2 chardys. no problem with that.

had to go to north lakes later and thought I'd try another 2 at once and store manager came sprinting over screaming "1 per customer, 1 per customer"… ok.

got the stickers on both bottles and gave one to some random couple.

  • Thanks op just swapped a stale bottle of Volcanic ash for a crisp Chardonnay, plus they give you a card to buy 2 bottles for $20, good until 28 Feb

  • Anyone else get the free case of Omni from Getwinesdirect a few years ago? Yeah, well turned that into a case of the Fifth Leg Red.

Great deal, thought the 1st Choice's would be busier…

  • Just swapped four bottles. They had to do each one separately at the checkout but no problems otherwise. They're having a wine tasting as well so you can try out the wines beforehand. I'm glad I did - not really impressed with the four wines available.

  • I'm happy, swapped two bottles of the $0.66 Crawford Farm Chardonnay 2008 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83193) which we found rather disgusting.
