Hi Thankyou for your help very helpful am getting quotes
hi, i have had two astra's and on both of them the field coil has been faulty.
The way you can tell if it is this is by turning on the ac in the car, then looking at the face of the ac compressor (the thing that's connected by a belt to the engine, it's towards the front of the engine and see if it's spinning). If the face is spinning, that means there could be a leak or the whole compressor is busted, if it's not spinning, it probably means you will have to get this part (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OPEL-HOLDEN-TS-AH-ASTRA-XG-BARINA…) and get any ac mechanic to put it in. In my history of owning astra's, i have had to replace 3 of these things. It should cost you around $350 for someone to do this.
