$20 for a SIM with unlimited phone/Internet in US

For those traveling to the US soon, dealnews has a seemingly good deal for a sim and unlimited phone/Internet plan for 30 days.

Ptel offers its Ptel SIM Card bundled with a $40 Unlimited Everything 1-Month Subscription Card for $44.99. Coupon code "SIMWOOT40" drops it to $20. With free shipping, that's the lowest total price we've seen for such a bundle from this provider. The plan includes unlimited talk, text, and web.

I've never heard of this company. Not sure about the frequencies either may need to research if it's compatible with your phone. I usually grab a T-Mobile sim when I'm over there which works well.

See Prepaid Sim with Data Wiki for other options.

  • If only Australia fell outside of roaming and was included to local I would get one of these to use for my internet.

  • Sadly they dont post to australia ?

    • None of the telcos will send to Australia but they will send to your hotel in the US. Tell your hotel to expect a package before you arrive and then pick it up once you get there.

      • Will that work - trusting hotels to anticipate future packages? Would the logistics of it all work and employees would even be aware (given how many their are manning the desks)?

Same question passes my mind in terms of delivering flowers etc to someone while they're staying overseas.

        • Yeah, definitely works. Its quite typical for people doing conferences to send their pamphlets or other promotional materials to the hotel. Just tell the hotel ahead of time.

  • Any tips on how one would purchase a PTel SIM online using an Australian CC? Their AVS rejects non-US addresses…

    • Can you put the billing address as the shipping address in the US?

      • I tried, that fails the credit card address validation (AVS). It turns out that Walmart sell a T-Mobile $30 unlimited 4G option that I'm going with instead.
