  • Geeees I hope someone from super cheap reads my comment and wakes up and stops lying to the people when it comes to your so called upto 50% off stocktake sale garbage! give me a break! sorry people but this store is full of lies and bullshit sales that's it's beyond belief! well after you read my comment you will be sure that all these shops want around christmas time is more of your money they don't want you to save it!
I will list a couple of items from this catalogue below that were cheaper in their august catalogue for comparison on how these retailers lie about their sales and especially now around christmas time.

Enforcer limited edition bike = August price $129. This catalogue $149
Carport with sides = August price $189. This catalogue $209

And geeees what's with that oil 2 for $29.98? we all know you buy that oil for around $5 a bottle and sell it for well over $20 each, at least Autobarn take a hit and slash their price of oil to half price to get the customers in the door and it works! that castrol gtx2 should only be $10 each on sale that's what autobarn had it for last year. and the limit of 4! hahaha what a joke, that will be all they have in the store! can't stand super cheap they put a sale on oil and they only have a few on the shelf, at least autobarn gets a few pallets in and there's heaps of oil for everyone to purchase. not the few on the shelf and when you go in all you see is an empty shelf where they had a couple sitting that are gone early in the morning! super cheap could learn something from other stores…

C'mon super cheap live up to your name and give the people some real sales and savings and stop the gimmicks!

  • AussieB AussieB - Agree that stores can exaggerate prices fora sale, but the examples you give are not necessarily proof that this exists.

Now I am not trying to defend Supercheap and have no interest except sharing bargains but consider the following.

Supercheap import most of their goods from China, the Aussie dollar has been down for 6 months, direct importers will have had to or will have to soon, raise prices to cover the higher cost because of the reduced value of the dollar. As such this maybe the reason the base prices of supecheap's stock has increased.

That said lubricating oils have also increased due to the higher cost of oil, hence last years bargains are not around much more, but we should see this soon.

Unless there is profiteering by stores and suppliers, lubricating oils should drop in price. As it took a little time for the higher costs to flow through so likewise the same for the lower costs. However I bet all stores and suppliers will try to maximise their margins, so we need to be vigilant when bargains are available so we can vote with our feet.

Finally if you look at the "fine" print just above the 50% off it does say - "up to" and doesn't make any percentage claim for the bike other than its a limited edition. The reason I highlighted this was another member was looking at bikes so thought they might like to compare this for value to the other kmart offer
