I know that ozbargainers have posted xperia s for under $300 but they cant be found… ie suggested retailer doesnt sell or retailer is dodgy… can anyone help?

Yeah, I agree, this is pretty much a secondhand price range for these handsets.
eBay has Galaxy Nexus going for $200-250 secondhand.
