Need help buying games for iMac

Hey OZB'ers,
I need some help on where the best place to buy games for my iMac - I am looking at purchasing Sid Meier's Civilization 4 or 5. I have been going through the OZB forums and I see alot of mention about cheap games from Steam and Amazon.com. Can someone please explain what the difference between buying from the two? I am aware of Amazon.com needing a US address to be able to download the games so I need to use some US address generator website to get around that. I am only interested in download versions of the game.

    Many games on Amazon provide you with a steam key, which you add into steam and then it works exactly as if you had purchased from steam. Be careful though, some games on amazon are NOT steam keys, and use a variety of other systems, depending on the game.

      Thanks Bruce, so is it best to avoid the non steam key games from amazon? Also if I purchase from amazon that has a steam key, do I download the game from amazon site or via steam site?

        Get a steam key version if you want steam. You download via the steam application. You install steam, then add the key and it will download the game.

    Why not try Apple's App store, you can use itunes cards to pay, so you can get extra 30% or so off depending on the discount.
