I went into my local DSE to grab a small UPS to power my ADSL Modem when we have the occasional blackout (I live in the country so we probably average one blackout a month). They had the Eaton 3S 700VA UPS, when I took it to the counter to pay it scanned at $27.40! Considerably more than the shelf/ticket price (So I grabbed all they had left, only two). Upon speaking to the salesman he confirmed they were a clearance item and that they still came with the three year warranty. Now what to do with the second one?

Also of interest the Battery Date on the boxes was for Nov 2012.

    Called some brisbane stores. Sunnybank has 1 with an expired battery. Gympie has the other, but I didn't bother calling.

    Nothing on Southside of Brisbane (maybe QLD) - Sunnybank showing 1 stock but it is error.

    Nothing in the South East of Melbourne. All the stores which are listed with stock can't find them. Interestingly when I mentioned UPS a few of the stores knew what I was after straight away.

    is the battery date on the box the expiry date or the manufactured date?

      The battery date on the box is a manufacture date, there is also a second date which is a charge by date. Now that i have fully looked one of the ones I bought is a year old. One is less than 6 months. So I will plug in and test and see how they both go. That being said the rep advised they were still covered by full three year warranty, so if I get that out of them for $27 or $9 bucks a year I will be very happy.

          Both the Box and documentation specifically say the batter is covered by warranty. From the box "UPS Warranty - 3 Years. Including Battery".

    Funny enough, I attempted to run one of the Belkin ones from last year - dead…. but the eaton ones are going strong!

    AHH WELL cant win them all…

    Well Update, both plugged in and operating well. The indicator that advises the battery is good is… well good. So happy :)
