TripADeal - 2 for 1 Warriors of China for $2999

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to book the TripADeal “2 for 1 Warriors of China” tour for $2,999 (details here: TripADeal Warriors of China Tour) and was hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced this trip firsthand.

I know TripADeal is a reputable company, but I’d love to hear about your experience within China itself—things like the itinerary, accommodation, guides, and overall travel experience. Any tips, highlights, or things to be mindful of would be incredibly helpful as I make my decision.

Thanks so much in advance for sharing your thoughts—I really appreciate it!

My parents have been about 6 times to China in the past yrs. General advice…

    • make sure you have alipay and wechat pay set up
    • great firewall of china… have a means to get around it if you intend to use google or facebook services
    • i usually get a travel esim for my folks… solves the GFW of china problem and ensures they have mobile data. TRravelKon or 3HK are our providers of choice
    • make sure you have both a Mastercard and Visa debit card with no international transaction fees. I suggest Macquarie and ME bank if you need to open up cards. My parents prefer Macquarie as their main card and even have a second Mac debit card in their luggage as back up.
    • also, when applying for your visa, check that thing like 100 times. Get someone else to check it as well!

      • With the Visa fee travel do you still need to make some sort of application?

If you're going as a tourist and will be leaving (whether flight out or even a border run to HK or Macau), you don't need to apply for a Visa atm.

@Mugsy: That should be "leaving within the 30 day VIsa free period…"

            • @Mugsy: Thanks! Visa process seems like a massive hassle

    • Thanks for the info.
What was your experience tipping the tour guide?
TripADeal suggest we should give a tip to the tour guide. Which is about $12 per person.

      • My folks don't use TripADeal but we did do a total of 4 tours back in 2011 and 2014 through a different operator.

My parents did tip each individual tour guide and driver (some tours we'd stick with one guide and driver for the week and others we may have had 3 or 4 for different legs of the tour). Not sure how much they tipped.

We had friends who did a similar trip. We were considering it as well but were put off by the toilet issues. In parts of China, the toilet consists of a hole in the ground where you would squat. You also need to pack your own toilet paper ( none provided).
    Good luck with your consideration

Very few parts of China anymore. Plus its surely hardly a reason not to go to a country - a few minutes a day of feeling uncomfortable? Have you ever been camping?

Wait until you are asked to perch on a few bits of wood over a pig pen and the pigs come up and start snuffling around, then you go to lunch and are served pork…

      • OMG I just spat out my coffee!

What if you fall in (bits of wood break, etc.)? You are the lunch?

        • Realistically, no. But you'll be in deep s#!t.

We still have this thunder boxes in Australia at National parks etc.

  • Curious, can you pay the tips with Alichat/ Wepay? I am going next month and don't intend on taking cash

Went in September and didn't use cash at all.
Suggest to set up both Alipay and Wechat as payment methods. Occasionally, one of them won’t process the payment, so you have the other one as a backup.
