Fertiliser Spreader - Looking for Recommendations

Hi guys, any recommendations for fertiliser spreaders? Always get patchy results using my hand so would like to get a spreader. Open to manual or battery, but would like something which can accommodate granules and also powder (e.g. Richgro Sulphate Of Ammonia).

Thanks.

I get consistent results with this using granules, not likely to work so well for powders though: https://www.bunnings.com.au/scotts-handy-green-fertiliser-sp…

    • Do you think this would work with Sulphate of Ammonia?

      • I have this one and works poorly with dynamic lifter, might work best with their own brand

    • Unless OP has a huge lawn or acreage this^ is the go. Practise with something neutral with similar sized granules/grains until you perfect the speed of spinning the handle, walking pace and the opening for the material.

Realistically powdered ferts would be better applied by hand because it's easier to see on the surface.

      • I have spread the Richgro Sulphate Of Ammonia by hand previously, and have had green patches in my lawn - so really want to get something which can allow me to do it more evenly.

        • If that's the case why don't you use a liquid version + watering can? .In fact as the stalker has suggested, use an organic alternative.A lottle and often would work better than sudden shock type events.
Timing is a big thing with lawn fert feeding. Do some googling and find a turf site with sound advice in and around when and what to use. I do recall a horticulturalist friend who used to say using a thing called
          IBDU
which apparently benefits lawns when over wintering in low growth phases (good for root systems)
          https://biogro.com.au/fertilisers/nytrolene-topdress/

It could be non fert issues causing greener patches too. Also modern designer lawn varieties seem to be fussy bastards .
          Good luck

Why aren't you castigating the OP for using energy intensive fertilisers for something so vain and largely useless as a lawn? Think of the climate! /s

        • LOL, why are you so precious you stalk every post I make? Insecure or physical attraction?

          • @Protractor: If you can read you will see I was posting in this thread before you entered the chat with your Elon ragebait.

I didnt enjoy using one like that. Kept jamming up everytime i stopped winding the crank. Was trying to spread stuff like sand consitency and hated it.

    • Noob questions so how does fertiliser benefit plants, do they sprout/ fruit biggerand quicker?

Also does potting mix and manure work the same?

And does difference species require difference fertilise, manure or potting mix.

  • What are you fertilising?

If he's a Knight of the Realm I reckon he can afford to feed himself.

I hope you have consent to fertilise Sir Walter

Can’t you just use a seed spreader?
