Doesn’t look like it from photos
Great! painstankingly embroided at sweat shops for peanuts and charge the cutomer for cavier.
This is all I can think of anytime i see this brand. Imagine the PTSD of Victorian residents.
PTSD of cookers, I think you mean. Victorians as a whole happily made him the longest serving Labor premier in history.
lol right on cue, you people are insane.
Ever heard of Stockholm syndrome? And no it's not just "cookers", look at the mental health, suicide rates, rising debt, children with social anxiety, loved ones dying ALONE in hospitals the list goes on. If anything you are the cookers for wanting that. Bet you'd agree to sterilize kids too because you're all just a hive mind
Winter is coming
Get a pair of birks, get a black puffy jacket and you too can look like a 15 year old girl
I'm not trying to seduce Drake here.
Is it three times better than the Macpac ones?
From the spec. No. Maybe even worst given it is 550 filled power whereas Macpac Halo 600. But this is only one aspect.
Absolutely not - I have a few of these, I wore a Uniqlo one almost daily (outside of summer) for years, then got a Kathmandu one, then picked up a Macpac one on sale for $80, and received a TNF one as a gift.
My short (anecdotal) review of all of my experience wearing the above (living in Melbs):
1) For every day wear, I still prefer the Uniqlo. I find that not being branded makes it a bit easier to dress-up (e.g. I can wear it with a business shirt and go into work without looking too silly), it's lighter than the competition, and it comes with a small pouch which it can fold down into which fits easily even into a small laptop backpack. It's not as warm as the others, but a wool / fleece jumper underneath works well. It's fine for some light rain, but I do find that water leaks through the seams quite easily. Quality is okay, the down fluff starts to come out of the seams after a few years of use. I also personally like the fact that the standard price is $99, and you can pick one up any day for that, especially given that the prices of other competitors are ridiculous and only ever worth it on a deep sale.
2) Kathmandu (Heli) and Macpac (Halo) are similar - I find both to be warmer than Uniqlo, though they are a bit puffier and feel heavier (though I've not actually weighed them). I find the Macpac logo to be a bit less obnoxious than the Kathmandu logo (especially the grey Macpac logo on the navy jacket). The quality seems better than Uniqlo, and the seams are a more watertight, so they're better in the rain. I personally find both of them to be quite similar, and if going outdoors, I generally prefer them to the Uniqlo one, which I see more of as a "city jacket" as opposed to an outdoor jacket. Both are regularly available for < $100 on sale, which I think is very much a decent price for them. Note that none of these jackets are real rainjackets, and probably wouldn't be any good for more than just a light shower.
3) TNF Hydrenalite to me, seems very similar to the Kathmandu and Macpac options. Some people refer to ethical reasons as to why they may choose TNF, however, my view is that whilst the company may have started off as ethically conscious, it was bought out by VFC years ago, and is today a portfolio company of a listed conglomerate. The material quality does feel nice and I do like the jacket, however, I do think that you are very much paying for the brand at this point. If it were not for the brand, it would (for me) be basically interchangeable with Macpac and Kathmandu.
Is this a bargain or an ad?
$240 retail at most shops, so this looks like a 'bargain'. I'll still pass paying for this much.
This company is so green they only use petroleum derived products
$100 for a logo
Wrong 150 for the logo when it is 196
These are a budget version of Macpac with an inflated price
So much hate for a decent brand lol. Bought. Thanks OP
We essentially pay for the brand, this one's probably worst compared to 600 fill down jackets.
North 'Face Palm'Black Small is $458, WTF?
The prices vary per size and colour, cheapest is $196.
Yep only xxl is $196
Use as a blanket if XXL is too big. Win!
Perfect size to be sitting in the rain to watch footy
Can buy like 3 or 4 jackets in Vietnam for this price and they are pretty great knock offs that are also warm enough
These North Face are also made in Vietnam, from recycled down, and recycled nylon. I bet a lot of the knockoffs are made in the same factory.
Yep. Bought my $25 knockoff from Taobao 7+ years ago. Has kept me warm everywhere including skiing.
100%. I bought a knock off north face spray jacket 10 years ago in Vietnam and it’s holding up strong. There’s no way a whole bunch of them aren’t being made with the same materials/schematics or even in the same factory
I got this, the parka version. Went to china with it in winter. Not as warm as i would hoped. The fabric gets easily ripped so ul leave a trace of feathers with you. I wouldn’t recommend this. Better get something else.
Arrives a month later in may
Showing $281.90 for green medium
You’re only paying for a logo.
Quality of TNF has gone down the toilet last 3-5 years.
Buyer beware.
But LOGO??? Still embroided !
Only XXL is $196, other sizes are up to $400.
I got a large black for 196 yesterday .. I think Dan has been buying up and pushed the price up!
Is the logo stitched?
