Website Hosting: 20GB Disk Space, Unlimited Transfer, $4/M Ongoing!

61
4BUCKS

Cheap web hosting doesn't get any better than ServersINseconds' $4/M offer.

We're offering our Value AU web hosting plan (normally $8/M) for just $4 for the next two weeks.

That's 20GB of disk space and unlimited transfer for your site.

Unlike most discount hosts, we offer true 24/7 phone and email support, and a real SLA.

As our SLA states - if you web hosting goes down for more than 20 minutes in a month, we'll refund your FULL monthly web hosting price back to you. The same applies if you wait more than an hour for an email response. Nobody else offers that.

Included are all the standard features, such as unlimited emails, databases, parked, and add-on domains.

We even offer a call-back service, if you want to speak directly to one of our staff but are running short of phone credit. We're here to help.

To take advantage of this offer, please use the promo code 4BUCKS in our ordering system.

Thanks for considering our offer, and we look forward to hopefully having you on board with us soon.

        • +1

          No worries at all.

are your servers linux or windows based?

          We use Linux servers.

          do you offer telnet access?

No, due to it being insecure. If you have a good reason for requiring SSH access we can accommodate that.

do your services include ftp server?

          Yes.

can hosted files be accessed via an ftp urls?

          Yes.

          are cgi scripts supported?

          Yes.

do you have gcc compiler available for your customers (if telnet is supported)?

No, as offering a compiler opens up potential security issues.

can your customers run cron jobs?

          Yes.

          do you offer back ups?

can I migrate I'll need to migrate both: html, cgi and some mysql databases. Is this ok?

We do daily, weekly, and monthly backups of all accounts to an off site backup server

If you have any further questions we'll be happy to help.

          Thanks again.

        • I use a number of CGI scripts written in C++. With my current host provider I ssh to their server and build the scripts with gcc. This seems to be a very easy and compatible way to deal with these scripts. How this should be approached on your servers?

        • Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to compile scripts on our servers. There's a risk of a security breach on a client's site, that would then be able to compile and run hacking scripts on the server. For this reason we disable compilers.

You could still build the scripts on your home PC and then upload them, however I acknowledge this wont be as convenient as building them on the server, but does provide extra security.

  • What sort of CPU allocations are allowed under this deal and what are the latencies like?

Good enough to host a phpBB forum with upto around 30 concurrent users?

    • Hi Stewy.

Thanks for considering ServersINseconds for your requirements.

The CPU allocations are generous, and as long as your site isn't effecting other sites on the server then you're free to run what you like. Latencies are great for Australian users, as we host in the Global Switch datacentre in Sydney. You can ping our own site for an idea of the latency you can expect.

With up to 30 concurent users, you're better off going with our Business AU plan which allows more CPU and RAM, but you're welcome to see how it runs on the Value AU plan.

      Thanks again.

    • Hi quirki.

A quick look at their site shows that they have restricted phone support hours, where we have 24/7 phone support.

They also don't offer a SLA that provides for full refunds of your monthly web hosting plan price should they not achieve 99.95% uptime. That wont be an issue in the first year you get free, but would become an issue should you move to a paid service with them in the future.

We also guarantee sub one-hour response times to email tickets.

That could become a bigger issue than it seems, if your site goes down and you need it up urgently outside their phone support hours.

I'm not saying this deal is for everyone, but for more serious sites requiring that reassurance, we provide a better option.

      Thanks.

  • I just purchased the month to month. Unbelievably easy. Matt, I might add that with the subscription on PayPal, maybe a link back to the account might help. I'm unsure if this is up to PayPal or yourself, but a link back to the account after a successful subscription might give people the right idea to get involved in setting up a domain and hosting straight away.

    Cheers.

    • Thanks vndl. Great to have you on-board!

Month to month is fine, and at just $4 it shouldn't be too much strain on the hip pocket.

I'll get someone to take a look at the link back as you suggest. I know it's pretty common so it shouldn't be hard to implement. It should be done by the end of the day.

If you've got any suggestions on improving our site, our services, or anything else, I'll absolutely make sure it gets looked at and addressed.

      Thanks again.

  • Cheers — I'll give this a try :)

I've got a new project that needs an Australian local server for a small workload

    • Hi webstersx.

Sounds too easy. We're located in the Global Switch datacentre in Sydney, and have the server resources to allow your site to grow should it do so.

      Thanks.

  • Matt. Servers have been down for almost 24 hours; I've been waiting for a new service to be activated and I can't seem to figure out why all this is taking so long :/

    • Hi Moots.

The server you're on has had it's email and database connections down, however depending on the technology you've used on your site, your site may have been online.

Regardless, I acknowledge that there has been issues, and happily invite you to email [email protected] for a full refund of your monthly web hosting payment as per our SLA.

With your case in particular, I know there was an error in the provisioning process due to the domain name you ordered hosting for already being on our servers.

I'll follow up with a ticket, once I get a full history of the service and any previous orders for the same domain, which will hopefully be tonight.

      Sorry for any inconvenience.

  • It's still down. I have called four times during Saturday and Sunday. I really hope things gets resolved ASAP….

    • +1

I've been using SIS for about 4-5 months now, only went down once for about 15 minutes but this is really pathetic. It's been down for days now!

      • ive called their number (03)9005-7723 and always gets answered by a Yank who "does not know about anything regarding an update"

Matt please step up and explain or assist your customers, this could turn into a PR disaster for serversinseconds.

        regards,

        Eric

        • Sorry EriceKahlua, we've had an issue on the server you're on that has been our top priority. It took longer than expected to get cPanel services active again, and I'd like to offer you the full refund of your monthly web hosting plan price back to you.

Please email [email protected] with your details, and we'll get it refunded to you ASAP.

The issue is not expected to recur.

  • signup process back available. emailed yesterday at about 2pm.. so 24hrs to fix a problem. I thought this was a 24/7 operation?

    • Their databases have not been working for around 2 days. A similar event happened last month, and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again next month. I'm still waiting for a reply on every email I have sent them so far. Matt, give me the refunds as stated in your SLA.

      • Hi wj835.

This is the first time we've had the issue, and nothing similar happened last month. We're obviously not anticipating anything happening next month.

That being said - I don't find the problem acceptable on behalf of our customers, and we'll be refunding your monthly web hosting plan price either tonight or tomorrow as we work through the queue.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope this hasn't dented your opinion of us too badly.

    • Hi kowcop.

The issue did take longer than expected to resolve, as the error was compounded by a glitch within cPanel.

You should have received a response from our techs within an hour. Did this not happen? If not I'll follow it up if you provide the ticket ID number.

We have multiple staff available 24/7.

If you have any further questions, I'll be happy to help.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and I can assure you this was a rare incident, and is taken very seriously when anything like this occurs.

  • Is the discount valid for the lifetime of the hosting plan? Have been contemplating to switch from US to AU web host and your offer is very tempting!

    • Yes the deal is available for the life of the hosting plan. If you haven't used Australian hosting before, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The speed of both your website, working with your site, and emails, will ensure you're a convert to Australian hosting for good.

      • Hi Matt,

I've signed up on the deal after taking upon your advise to try it out, I have also transferred a .com.au domain across seeing that's expiring soon. So far have received a generic reply of my issue being escalated on the 55min point after the ticket is submitted which is impressive, however still no resolution 19hrs later.

I really hope this isn't the classic case of over promise, under deliver web host…

With so much negative response above I'm not sure if this is the right move I'm about to take.

        Zen

        • Hi Zen.

          Thanks for signing up.

Your enquiry had to be escalated to management, which does take longer than enquiries that can be handled by our first and second level support and sales staff.

Sorry for the delay, and if you've got any questions please let us know.

          Thanks again.
