Good price for M2 MacBook Air 16GB/256GB
Even better price for eBay Plus members $999.20 (Possibly ATL?) with code APL20
Looks like only Space Grey colour available.

Absolutely insane deal, not even base spec RAM either! Great find!
7 years apple support from 2022? so you get the latest software until 2029. Another 4 years.
FOUR MORE YEARS !
So the M1 is almost out of support?
Likely 2027.
People base the support time frame on the Intel macs, but M series are in house.. So they may end up with a longer support life IMO
I’m curious about this. The intels held value cos you could run other OS’s or firce later MacOS builds.
M-silicon might become less desirable once support ends.
@Low Punt: Yeah I'm tossing up between this machine for example and a 300 dollar dell refurb.. I only need it for Web, personal admin, some media consumption and managing my local proxmox/docker stuff.. So a refurb windows laptop with Mint or something installed on it makes sense…
But macbooks are so nice hahaha.
@ReaperX22: I bought a ARM windows pc because I wanted 20hr battery life. ARM CPUs are really nice but unfortunately it won’t run or correctly emulate allot of software so I went back to my Linux T480s which cost a few hundred on eBay.
Apple really is the only option if you want arms advantages and use software outside of basic tasks. I think I’d spend the $300 more for the M4 as someone mentioned.
@Low Punt: I'm looking at ARM for my next laptop but am wondering if the software situation is that bad. Was there any mainstream software in particular that you thought would run but didn't?
@shuffle1: The most mainstream software that’s buggy is VLC and OBS, various vpn apps and cloud apps. The online exams at uni also use a screen capture software which is only compatible with MacOS and Windows x86.
The most problematic for me however is with data science and data analysis software (like IDEs or python packages. Most of them have not been ported and won’t even install and there is not substitutes I can quickly learn.
Small things can become a pain - like creating a OS flash drive. I think Rufus (or maybe rpi imager) woukd not work and I had to stuff around finding one that would - then read up on how to use it.
I see allot of ppl recommending ARM Windows laptops and trying to claim they run everything but as a student across my degree the last 12 months I’ve found numerous software packages that wouldn’t run. That’s in a degree that’s not data science. For example- the vpn I need to use to access the Unis shared drive or Citrix to use all their software for free will not run.
I’m an early adopter so I figured as much. It’s still useful however to do 90% of my tasks but I wouldn’t recommend it as the only laptop someone owns.
Ive seen Lenovo warehouse have the iPad flex 5 (or similar) for $550 which I feel is a great price - however at rrp of $1000 I’d go Mac or a used laptop.
Everyone is getting into ARM CPUs and AMD is pushing out amazing x86 stuff so the market might change dramatically in the near future.
@Low Punt: M1 and M2 macs are able to run other OSs
https://asahilinux.org/
and it's pretty well supported.
They're doing a rewrite of the GPU drivers now and once that's done they're looking to get M3 and beyond macs supported as well
@ferry594: Have to disagree with you.
They can only run arm based Linux which isn’t other OSs as far as mainstream software goes.
Updates regularly break asahi and now Marcan has exited the team and the associated drama I don’t see the stability long term. I’m actually concerned the project could die and allot of others in the Asahi community are also concerned.
I’ve been using it since beta on an m1 mini.
Awesome deal OP, ordered, was waiting for a deal on an M4 but this is $450 cheaper even than AOC store. I think the 16gb ram is the most important part at this price! Even pushed me to sign up to eBay plus. Thanks again :D
Wow, great price
Excellent! been wanting to upgrade my intel macbook air for a while now but didnt quite want to pull the trigger but this deal is hard to beat. Dont need M4 either.
So M2 air now with 16gb ram won't have swap memory issue, right?
Still has the slower 246gb ssd
38 remaining fyi
Where can you check on ebay how many stocks left ??? always said 'more than 10 available'
You key in the maximum quantity (eg 1000000) after adding to cart and it’ll tell you how many left
Thx, learning a new trick today!
Too much RAM
Probably worth it to buy apple gift cards on discount and buying an m4 model on AOC if you want future proofing, for $300 more you get 40% better single core and 60% better multi core and a much faster gpu.
If web browsing though this is still more than sufficient
Plus that new Sky Blue color is so sexy too! Worth to pay more for that!
Never go with anything but silver. All MacBooks are silver with a layer on top. When that layer scratches off they look bad.
You're getting another coat for free…that's the OZB way!
Have seen the sky blue colour in person and its incredibly underwhelming. Basically silver with a very light tinge of blue.
I have the sky blue. Nice, a bit different, but you really have to see it at different angles to tell the diff with silver. Obviously must be watery North American blue sky and not strong Queensland sky blue.
But yeah, don’t regret it.
Yeah I really don’t get the excitement.
256GB with no way to upgrade is also rough.
AOC order at least lets you pay to increase the SSD.
Would be interesting to study ozbargain voting from a physiological point of view. What’s the number of votes where people stop thinking logically and just assume it’s a good deal because there’s X number of votes by others and turns into a self fulfilling popular deal.
a MBA 16gb ram for under a grand isn't a good deal?
16GB is the new base for all MacBooks.
For $999 you’re getting a good laptop with limited storage from a relatively unknown eBay seller. Good deal but not what I’d call insane.
People always forget to compare pricing with AOC.
That said, if you only want to spend $999 and you can handle the 256GB you won’t get better for a MacBook. So long as the seller is legit.
@PainToad: CompNow has been around forever, they're a big supplier of Apple products to schools and businesses. Even if you disregard that, I don't think it's fair to say their almost perfect 10k rating is "relatively unknown"
Yeah true but ppl here went crazy when something like this pops up, just 3 more stock left at this moment, will get ozbargained within next few minutes
Did you mean psychological?
Or perhaps the physiological jitters, sweat and increased heart rate from landing on a very limited deal, and worrying whether locating or getting your discount gift cards applied to your account will take longer than the deal has left, and you put them in and go to buy and it's out of stock, you lose your mind, and smash your computer, let out a muffled roar because it's 3am and then go surf OzBargain for the next hour on your phone in the toilet, hoping that someone will post a better deal, but keep refreshing the eBay deal in case more become available?
You slink back to bed, JV turns to you in a slight panic and says, "There's a post I didn't comment on‽"
Thanks OP!!!! 🥳
OOS
OOS
Out of stock already la
Dam son
well it was one of those "buy first think later" moments. and I won't have to explain this to the missus! because it's for her.. lol
who am I kidding, I will most definitely have to explain it after all
how is this oos already, I bought 20 minutes ago and there were 30 left
You will find 29 on Gumtree listed tonight
People still use gumtree ?
Must stolen items can be found in Gumtree
These are durable compared to some of the other laptops I've owned. Not a fan of the operating system (iOS), prefer windows, but work requires me to have something reliable. I've dropped mine so many times (twice tonight and dropped a piece of glass on the keyboard last night) and the edges are all dinged up but will works great and no cracks.
macOS
Can we install windows on it? lol!
slower ssd
True but tests have shown that the 256/16GB unit is still faster than the equivalent M1 for workloads that involve the SSD, as the additional RAM makes up for it.
Safe seller?
Yes. I have purchased from this seller a couple of times.
Thanks
i shouldve bought this im retarded
Mine arrived today… can’t fault that for quick delivery. Fiddling with it now :)
Insanely quick delivery, ordered yesterday delivered just now!
Super impressed! Sold my M1 Air base model (256/8GB) for $700 and bought this. After TRS it will be under $900. Sweet!
If anyone missed out and wants one, I purchased because I've been curious about macOS for a while but some of my programs for school run better on windows so I'm selling mine for what I paid.
Crazy good price, nice find.
