Qantas Lounge Access - Still Valid on Transferred and Cancelled AmEx Card?

Hi all, wanted to ask if anyone has experience on whether a Qantas longue access (linked to an AmEx Qantas credit card) is still valid if the lounge access is transferred to a family member even if I cancel the AmEx card which the complimentary lounge access is linked towards.

I assume it'll be valid cause it's no longer my lounge access because I have successfully transferred the access to my family member. However, online forums suggest otherwise.

Thanks in advance for anyone that may have experienced this before!

    I suggest otherwise.

If the complementary lounge pass has been issued to you, then transferred to another member, cancelling your CC will not affect it.

Once the lounge passes appear in your Qantas account Amex doesn't arrange to have them withdrawn from churners. Instead they've made Qantas Club into an overcrowded, unpleasant amenity which renders lounge passes worthless… unless you're inclined to consume disproportionate quantities of alcohol before flying.

    • qantas did that long ago when points club plus was introduced and the catering menu is exclusively ham, cheese, tomato toasties

unless you're inclined to consume disproportionate quantities of alcohol before flying.

For what other reason would you want a lounge pass?

  • Thank you all, especially JV!
