Not a rep, but to register a .com.au site you need ABN/ACN. Id.au sites for example though do not.
You need to pick the lower service for $20 a year normal price.

Noob question: would this be compatible with Google apps or something equivalent for cloud based email? I use exchange for my work based email and calendar through outlook, thus I can't imagine going back to pop3 for personal email… any help appreciated!

Also note that Google Apps no longer provide sign up for free services. They only allow business signup which is $50/year/user. You can however use CPanel to forward all emails to your free Gmail or Hotmail account.

Sounds great! But do you always need an ABN/ACN to register a site? And when I go through it wants to charge $40 (so that would be discounted to $20), how do I get to register for $20 (to then halve it to $10)? Thanks heaps.
