Line Trimmer Ryobi or Dewalt

I am looking to upgrade to a battery whipper snipper first and then later a lawn mower. It will be for a small back and front yard.

I currently have one tool with 4 amp Ryobi battery 18 v. So also, a consideration should I remain with Ryobi or is it worth going to DeWalt.

So was looking at below options
Points
1) Ryobi warranty has 6 years replacement vs Dewalt has 3 years (not sure on fine print)
2) DeWalt gives 5amp battery vs Ryobi skin only no battery so will have to use current battery
3) Ryobi as seen in video feeding the line trimmer is easier but not sure how it is on DeWalt
4) Ryobi has height adjustable, but DeWalt doesn't seem to have on the tool I looked at.

Any other point or suggestions which you can suggest please before I pick any also do these go on sale any time

Now that I've realised you're after a line trimmer not a precision marksman with a squeegee, I can confirm the Ryobi 18V does a great job

    • Ryobi 18V does a great job

      Brushless 18v does.
The low end 18v one is only for those who have grass as soft as butter :)

  • Line trimmer?

Is that like a whipper snipper?

DeWalt is certainly better value considering the battery and charger. The DeWalt motor is at the cutting head so direct drive but from what I can see the Ryobi has the motor at the other end like ICE brushcutters so it has to turn a long drive shaft to get the cutter going which obviously wont be as efficient. Downside of the DeWalt setup is the motor is literally in the weeds so more likely to get clogged up or have cooling problems if not maintained.

I've got a DeWalt 54v trimmer and have no problem with the OEM bumphead line feed.
