Just FYI this is Product of Vietnam.
imo Japan has the best short grain rice.
BUT is that best short grain rice $3 a kilo?
No, the Japanese rice costs much more, but well worth the extra $.
I've tried this product a few times. It's much more expensive than medium grain from the same brand and i don't think it's worth paying $5.50 extra.
I remember this used to be $10 a bag 2-3 years ago, price has increased significantly (as with most things unfortunately). For those that consume a lot of rice, Amazon has 20kg sunrice GO rice for $41.53 with S&S. Pretty decent value at $10.38 per 5kgs. I’ve bought this a couple of times and mix in a tiny bit of black rice and turns out great in the rice cooker.
Shouldn't this be labelled as "Vietnamese Rice" or at the very least "Japanese Style Rice".
Probably similar concepts as Australian grown Wagyu that used to refer to specific "signature" breed mostly (only?) available in Japan.
After becoming a marketing icon and proliferating everywhere, probably not all Wagyu products on shelves today are DNA certified.
Apart from what it is, there are people concerned about how and where it was produced.
Unfortunately, marketing can twist how it is presented to customers!
Thanks. Wife bought 6 bags 👍
I refuse to buy this over the branding I believe is clearly designed to mislead customers.
Japanese name japanese language and Japanese rising sun motif yet it is grown in Vietnam.
no different to BMW being built in south africa
Or Toyota Kluger being built in USA
CAVEAT EMPTOR !
GLOBALIST AGENDA !
i think the branding over this is sh**ty but also I think it's the best non-Japanese short grain rice. I'll take my $60/5kg rice any day but I don't think this one is all that bad, honestly. Has a nice, clean milky taste that you'd expect from a good short grain rice
My 2c (from a rice-consuming culture), try ST25 rice. Differences are day and night.
Which is the most comparable to this short grain rice?
Any particular type of brand for ST25?
That is one type of rice. Different brandings/packaging but contents are the same.
